Pros
Working from home, great people to work with, free breakfast, tea and coffee. The ability to potentially change a project if you're not enjoying your current work. The 7-week induction training course was fantastic!
Cons
The office is a little on the small side, and sometimes there is not enough space for everyone to sit down.
- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros

Cons
Bad IT tools, too many communication channels

Pros
Some great people at the company. Really top notch engineers and technical architects who you can learn a lot from. Some very interesting projects and tech stacks. Travel opportunities are plentiful (which is a perk if you like travel) Generous when it comes to working from home. Pretty good career progression if you put the effort in. There's no doubt about it; Kainos still has a good reputation in Ireland. It's still a good name to have on your CV.
Cons
Company dropped out of Top 100 companies this year on the Times list, but still implies it is a top 100 company. This is disingenuous. Travel opportunities are plentiful (which is a negative if you don't like or cannot travel). There is a sense that Kainos will take on any customer, even if the customer is dreadful, difficult to work with and the work is awful and it has a detrimental effect on frontline staff. This seems to have become more of an issue after the company went public. Pay is definitely an issue, but that's not only a problem with Kainos. I think the issue is with the notorious "benchmarking" tech companies in Belfast do. They only seem to benchmark against the old boys club (companies who have been here 15+ years). So the likes of Liberty, Kainos and AllState think they are on point with tech sector pay in Belfast, but in reality the tech sector in Belfast is booming and many new American based companies coming in are simply paying far more. So, benchmarking and salaries is an area of concern. Which is part of... Retention. While Kainos does have amazing people, it isn't doing that well retaining them. Incredibly experienced, highly skilled staff are simply walking out the door for better jobs and opportunities at rates which would make most People/HR teams shudder. On call can be an issue for teams, but again, this isn't just a Kainos issue. On call can be a major pain point for a lot of tech professionals in lots of companies.

Pros
- This is an excellent company if you're starting out in IT, changing careers or just graduated. - Opportunities to work on interesting projects and meet great people. - Company pays for interesting courses/study/exam and attending conferences.
Cons
- Travel is a drain. - Some of the most incompetent managers I have seen around, not equipped to handle complex situations. - Money focused and all decisions made evolve around this (at least that's how I felt), expect to be treated like a resource being moved around from project to project. - Doesn't feel like a technology company, feels out of place in a vibrant industry, mostly because of the management style.

Pros
- You'll work with great people for the most part
Cons
The worksmart 'leadership' team should be called the 'lack of leadership' team; incoherent pressure-cooker strategy is driving down quality, real productivity and morale whilst attrition continues to soar. Atmosphere is awful, overworking is rife and head in the sand approach to complaints continues. Constant pressure to reduce quality and just get stuff out the door so you can go on to the next billable project. You have to attend business updates and staff meetings in your own time unless you can bill it to a customer (unfortunately not a joke) and you now have to travel exclusively in your own time unless absolutely unavoidable. No TOIL. No frills. No thanks. Team-building is not a concept senior management understands except when it comes to their own jollies. If you'd like to be valued as an employee, paid something close to market rate, be appreciated for working extra hours.. don't hold your breath. To the senior management you're solely a resource who is there to make money and you should thank them for the privilege. If you're thinking of joining as a workday engagement manager or consultant and want to talk to someone who has been in the business for a while.. good luck finding anyone, the attrition rate is abysmal.

Pros
Great people to work with Awesome Benefits They provide great opportunities to go above your current role. Never afraid to give everyone a chance to run events or take on challenging tasks.
Cons
Losing its 'small company' feeling Some of the decisions made don't feel in the best of interests of the people of the company.
