Management drove this great company into the ground

Pros

The middle managers are the best. There were so many wonderful people at LeapFrog who kept things running for years, while the executives rotated in and out. People made lasting friendships at LeapFrog and so many people really cared about the mission and the products.

Cons

The current management team is terrible. And it's pathetic and sad what they've done to this wonderful company. They came in and rode the LeapPad wave, which was set in motion before they came. They had nothing to do with it, though they love to take credit for it. The CEO, CMO, and CFO are all friends from years of working together and have no idea what they're doing. They continue to pay themselves fat salaries, while laying everyone off. And what's worse is they have no strategy and never have. This isn't surprising as they are not capable of creating a strategy. The Board should have fired them all ages ago. Except they're all friends, too.

Pros

Loved the work environment and my co-workers. Lots of bright people who really enjoyed for a company that makes products that help children learn. This will all change, however. With all the employee reductions and more to come, this company will never be the same. Many current employees who rightfully don't believe the CEO's optimism are already looking for new jobs.

Cons

Executive Level Management...they're a joke. The CEO is a con-man. He tells everybody not to worry as he has a strategy in place, then proceeds to lay people off after the company misses their revenue targets again and again by a mile. How can you be so wrong? In the short time I've been employed here I've seen a 50% reduction in staff...and more to come. Since the announcement of the VTech acquisition we've been told that this is an "opportunity" for us to grow and expand, and the VTech is impressed with our technology, processes and people...who is he kidding? If we were such a great company, then why did we get sold for a mere $72M? Was it because the company has lost a HUGE amount of money over the past several years? So much money lost that we no longer get a 401K match or annual bonus! The only opportunity is for is for the CEO and his Senior VPs to walk away with millions after running what was once a good company into the ground. It makes me sick to see what they've done to this company and how many good people's lives have been affected by poor management.
