Reviews about "upper management"

Pros
Fun to work. Management experience. Pool water balance experience, good employee discount.
Cons
Low pay, employees are not paid fairly. They keep adding tasks and not compensating.Lack support from upper management/corporate. Short Staffed and long hours, low pay not enough staff. Favoritism among managers to the point to leave you left out. The local police department is the security of the store. Horrible HR. Systems horribly outdated. the company prefers to invest in devices that track costumer traffic to control and blame employees. Toxic management from corporate to general managers they are very out of touch with what happens in stores. Store managers do not get holiday pay yet and they don't get to negotiate their salary. Hourly associates make more than managers. Expensive benefits

Pros
Decent pay and benefits for full time employees. Training provided, even got a CPO license out of it.
Cons
They run skeleton crew...2 full time employees, open 7 days a week so 4 days a week someone is trapped at store alone open to close in season and off season. Off season is horrible, in a 10 hour work day you might have ONE customer. Management and upper management is a joke.
- Former Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
Great Upper Management and Corporate Management.
Cons
Very Slow During Winter (Obvious Reasons)
- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
My team was full of wonderfully talented individuals (before they left).
Cons
I worked in the corporate headquarters. This company has zero concept of work life balance. Hours are insane. Me and most of my team left after we were being asked to work weekends for weeks straight. Leslie's does not care about your personal safety and had no problem flying employees to other states to work 60 hour weeks during the height of the pandemic. Some members of upper management have control issues, and impose absurd restrictions on implementation choices. The result is unmaintainable software with a lot of tech debt, and using the wrong tools for the job. Spec on projects changed daily. Arbitrary deadlines held to too high of a priority, often determined at the start of a project before the requirements have been defined. The office politics are insane and different managers can't work together, impeding progress. HR is disorganized. If you work here, double check your documents - paychecks, bonuses, benefits. I found multiple mistakes amounting to thousands of dollars that I would have lost. You have to wait a full 90 days before your benefits start. There used to be a "culture of thrift" value that was removed, but seems to still stick with long-time employees and managers. This makes Leslie's oddly stingy for a billion-dollar company. Office supplies are hard to come by (you'll have to buy them yourself usually). There are no utensils in the break room, so you'll have to bring your own or hunt around for somebody else that has a stash. Office rules are oddly strict. For example, you aren't allowed to have any food at your desk, despite being in a large warehouse-type building that has no carpets. All in all, this place is a mess and I can't recommend it to anybody.

Pros
Decent place to work, sometimes solid management
Cons
upper management questionable at times
Continue reading - Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Somewhat flexible and always busy so there was something to do
Cons
Hours varies depending on availability to travel, upper management made supervisors job harder sometimes, trying to get paid for mileage and commission was extremely difficult and put off as much as possible by higher management
- Current Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
You learn a lot. I applied right out of college and I am basically using it as a jumping off point.
Cons
Lots of upper management changes constantly. It has made it hard for me to establish a mentor or for the company to gain a good work culture. Use this job to gain experience but don’t expect to be able to support a family.

Pros
The best part of Leslie was the other Managers, almost all of them where so helpful.
Cons
Upper Management, regional and above where always asking for more. Make more money, make more sales, with little or no regard to employees personal lives. The store that I ran was over budget and was operationally sound. My employee review was all exceeds and then was given a .01 percent raise.

Pay is better than most places. Easy winters.
Cons
Lack support from upper management/corporate. Outdated equipment and business practices. Lack of skilled employees.

Pros
interesting work, decent bonuses, very slow during winter and more laid back
Cons
wages are extremely low, hardly ever can keep people because of wages, leads to understaffed constantly, customers can get away with murder with upper management, during the corona pandemic tried to justify staying open through months of slow business
