I worked at Leslie's Swimming Pool Supplies part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Somewhat flexible and always busy so there was something to do

    Cons

Hours varies depending on availability to travel, upper management made supervisors job harder sometimes, trying to get paid for mileage and commission was extremely difficult and put off as much as possible by higher management

I have been working at Leslie's Swimming Pool Supplies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You learn a lot. I applied right out of college and I am basically using it as a jumping off point.

    Cons

Lots of upper management changes constantly. It has made it hard for me to establish a mentor or for the company to gain a good work culture. Use this job to gain experience but don’t expect to be able to support a family.

I worked at Leslie's Swimming Pool Supplies full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The best part of Leslie was the other Managers, almost all of them where so helpful.

    Cons

Upper Management, regional and above where always asking for more. Make more money, make more sales, with little or no regard to employees personal lives. The store that I ran was over budget and was operationally sound. My employee review was all exceeds and then was given a .01 percent raise.

    Pros

interesting work, decent bonuses, very slow during winter and more laid back

    Cons

wages are extremely low, hardly ever can keep people because of wages, leads to understaffed constantly, customers can get away with murder with upper management, during the corona pandemic tried to justify staying open through months of slow business

I have been working at Leslie's Swimming Pool Supplies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Casual uniforms, including shorts. Slow during holiday months, as compared to other retail. Decent benefits and employee discount. Vacation constantly accrues, no use it or lose it.

    Cons

Absolutely no work life balance from April to October. Minimum on staffing hours, so a good store manager works a lot! Pay is not great, at any level. This makes it hard to maintain quality employees, with the expectations we put on them. There is a serious disconnect with upper management and home office, as with stores. It has really become a disaster when is comes to stores and upper management. They say they want to grow but don't give tools to succeed. They tie your hands, yet hold you responsible for results. Starting as a Lead, you can advance to ASM, then Store Manager...but growth stops there. There is no opportunity for advanced growth and you are never shown appreciation for hard work. Very disappointed in the turn this company is making.

I worked at Leslie's Swimming Pool Supplies part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There's a lot of down time when the store is slow. Schedules are flexible if your team is cool. Good job for a college student trying to make money to get by.

    Cons

They don't prioritize employees that have been there a long time. Upper management changes all the time so there is no consistency in what is considered right and wrong. They can cut your hours quickly. Schedules are inconsistent.

I worked at Leslie's Swimming Pool Supplies full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Learn how to run a business effectively if you put forth the effort. The new E- Learning system is phenomenal, especially the shop courses and general chemical classes. Leslie's has access to almost anything, their catalog is insane. They have the resources to help you be successful, a little common sense and to go along with training will get you far.

    Cons

Low pay considering you are the face of your store. Long hours, even when you're off you're working. No appreciation by upper management. Loyalty is not returned. Favoritism runs rampant. No opportunity for growth. Unless you move away or take over a dead store... they don't pay for it either. Bottom line the job itself is actually fine, it feels good to see the fruits of your labor and also gain the trust of your customers. Just wish the people you were loyal too could see it, but alas your just a number.
