I worked at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent Mentors, Great Experience, you will learn a lot and be self-sufficient. I greatly appreciate the opportunity. I would not have left if it weren't for management and the Senior Attorney that was always difficult and mean to work with.

    Cons

Poorly managed, inadequate pay, California will undercut your incentive bonuses on a technicality there are some Partners with horrible attitudes and no patience for questions. Instead of answering a question that takes a minute to answer, certain people will make you go on a goose chase to figure it out, making you waste hours on something stupid they know and could help you out on.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Attorneys, including those who did not goto top schools, can get good litigation experience here. Some practice groups are more friendly than others.

    Cons

The pay is below market rate. The firm acts like big law but contracts out extremely low rates with insurance companies so there is only so much it can pay attorneys. The firm still has high expectations and expects a high billable hour. Revolving door at firm.

I have been working at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You will get lots of hands on experience.

    Cons

It is a good place to start your carrier but not a place to stay. You will learn how to litigate cases, but you will be underpaid and overworked. Whatever practice group you will be hired for, that will be your group so your chances of practicing a different area of the law will be very low. The bonuses are based on billing additional hours over your billing requirement. Good luck with that.

    Pros

    Beautiful office space, coworkers helpful.

    Cons

Online training but left to figure out massive amount of information by bothering extremely busy coworkers. Working for multiple attorneys who all want their work done as a priority

    Pros

-Positive, friendly, collaborative work environment -Competitive compensation/bonus structure -Room to grow; promoting from within encouraged

-Lacking benefits (no 401k matching, no contributions for dependents/spouse) -Lacking adequate technology software and equipment; outdated processes and procedures that scream inefficiency -Lacking general department structuring, support, and systems (I honestly have no idea how such a large firm continues to operate with national departments of less than 10 people)
