I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

In a management position at Lidl you will learn as much as you want, but only if you want to. Motivation is the key and the more motivated you are the easier it is to progress in the company. Well paid, structure based work, fair workload.

    Cons

No bonus scheme, depending on the store and position but you may notice favouritism.

    Advice to Management

Treat them how you want to be treated.

I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

great pay can be fun if you're working with the right people

    Cons

long hours mostly close shifts no support from higher management low motivation from staff Most staff don't feel appreciated No real training

    Advice to Management

Lidl needs to take a step back and start treating their staff better. As a company all levels of staff need to feel more appreciated as their lack of compassion is making life in Lidl hard and makes people feel demotivated. If the company doesn't care about its staff it makes it very hard for store managers to be accommodating.

I worked at Lidl full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good salary and benefits.

    Cons

Never get a second, it's non stop every day. Keeps you fit though

    Advice to Management

I know the moto is we save on bills so customers save on the tills but i think by adding a few more working hours into each store would enable staff to engage more with the customers. Which in turn I believe would generate more revenue going in the long run because a common complaint i recieved from customers was that there was never any staff on the floor and if there was they they came across that they were too busy.

I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly staff, management very approachable and understanding. Surrounded by like-minded people who want to do a good job but can also have a laugh. Work together as a team to reach the end goal.

    Cons

Hard work, definitely not for everyone. You have long days and early starts/late finishes.. it can be hard at first but you get used to it quite quickly.

    Advice to Management

Don’t be afraid to get stuck in, as management we still have to do the jobs that customer assistants and caretakers do so don’t expect otherwise. Being a team player is important.

I worked at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Salary is ok, holiday allowance fair

    Cons

'God complex' possessed by some Area Managers Labour spend low so any absence (even holiday) tips the store past breaking point Limited hours to train new starters so training ends up compromised Productivity too high in store, all managers are glorified customer assistants and don't get time to run the business as you'd like Long days, weeks, lack of support from field-based management You are just a...

    Advice to Management

Be realistic, if you spent a couple of percent more on staffing then you'd be able to have more accountability to manager poor SM/DSMs. Get Area Managers to cover one week of Store Manager holiday per store in their district each year, to keep them in touch with the reality and challenge of running a store. Isn't it the definition of insanity to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results? How do you...
