I worked at Lidl part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Sometimes you can progress in your career (if you a good with store manager)

    Cons

Store Assistants cannot get better contract than 30h and its always part time contract which is not acceptible to banks for mortgages and other.....

    Advice to Management

Change your company politics related to a employees and their contracts , should be some bonuses for the staff (not only xmas 50€ voucher) Sallary need to be fortnightly (monthly is to long period to wait to get paid especially for the 1st sallary if you start for example 01.05. you need to wait till end of june which is ridicolous.

I have been working at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Competitive Pay, Excellent Benefits, International Company

    Cons

Inconsistent Management, Toxic Culture, inconsistent supply chain

    Advice to Management

Hold your operational executives and district managers accountable. I've been here for two years and am genuinely disgusted by the number of times I've seen incompetent management rewarded with lateral transfers to HQ. Likewise, I've seen store level management "promote" an employee only to work them for months in their position before submitting their paperwork, blaming slow HR processes for the lag in pay. Of... course, back pay was never given.

I worked at Lidl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Basic salary looks good but isn’t actually for hourly rate Manageable pension Clock in and out for every minute paid

    Cons

Burnt out staff who are relied on too much. Area managers to have no actual work experience. Unrealistic workload, always cutting back on hours and increasing tasks. Robotic how to guides for every task e.g cleaning the floor. God help you if you have an idea of your own. Over promoted area managers fresh from uni who use and abuse the staff for every ounce of energy. Bullying area managers who won’t hesitate to get... rid of a staff member if under 2 years service for minimal rule breaking (not myself) 5am starts working 5+ pallets an hour, regularly 12+ hour days. Never time for even 5 minutes break. Always leave the store after midnight when surprised to finish at 10. Always under staffed for the amount of work to be completed. Unrealistic expectations! When you say that the it’s been a hard busy day and that you may not have finished everything, or you ask for some help, you get told to ‘work harder’ but the area manager. Who by the way gets paid 60k a year with a brand new bmw/Audi to walk into the store and moan that the people running around like 100m sprinters aren’t working hard enough and then leave. Life of a ‘slave’ (manager) In this backwards thinking company.

    Advice to Management

Stop penny pinching every opportunity, replace the over paid under worked area managers and invest this money if staffing the store properly.

I worked at Lidl part-time for less than a year

    Pros

You get lots and lots of progression opportunities if you're capable and ambitious. Staff are friendly and management are protective towards their subordinates. They always back you up when there are abusive customers.

    Cons

Under staff is a big problem. Upper management would do anything to cut down as much staff as possible to hit sales target and to compensate the low price promise. Don't really agree with this strategy.

    Advice to Management

You need to put more quota on hours and staff. It helps to boost productivity and that's how sales targets are met. Not by cutting down human resources.

I have been working at Lidl part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Hourly pay is good for retail job

    Cons

Everything else The work is hard with many unrealistic expectations regarding to time limits you have to work in, forget it if you have any physical/mental conditions they do not cater to that at all. The hours are long, sometimes doing a 10 hour shift with only half an hour break after waiting 8 hours to get your break.

    Advice to Management

    Look after the staff more.
