      Decent Place to Work

      20 Feb 2021 - Electro-mechanical Engineer in Orlando, FL
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

-Pay is pretty good, especially if you live cheap. If you prove yourself you'll rise up fast and get decent raises. Lots of folk work overtime (myself included) and that pays okay (not time and a half unfortunately). -Flexible schedule structure; they start most everyone on a 10-4 schedule (10 hours a day, 4 days a week, be in between 9AM and -3PM), but if that doesn't work for you you can go to the older 9-80 schedule or even a standard 5-40. - You have some flexibility in what/where you want to work, in my experience; if a project isn't quite the one you're interested it, bringing it up to your manager(s) can get you shifted to something a bit more in your interests. -Mentoring culture is huge here and lots of people are more than eager to teach you things. There is some encouragement to branch out beyond your core knowledge base and seek sub-specialties.

      Cons

      - A lot of good old boys still around, pretending that there is just one "right" way to do everything. They love to talk, and while some of them do actually do something (and do it well), a lot of them like to sit on their laurels and tell us about how they did x and y on a program 20 years ago. -No real consistency between projects; every lead engineer has their own preferences on how a drawing should be done, or how the release process should go. - Expect a lot of overtime, some unpaid (5 hour OT gate during the week, but weekends/off days have no gate). - Some of the work will be very confusing with constantly changing requirements, redundant/wasted work; this is often caused by poor communication within the engineering teams and management as well as from external customers.

      Pros

I had 2 great bosses during my time there, which definitely helped to make it one of my favorite companies to have worked for. The work is challenging and interesting, and the employees are top of the line. Pay was decent and I enjoyed the 9/80 work schedule. Very good work/life balance.

      Cons

Can be difficult to get your foot in the door, but worth it if you can. Facility was old. As to be expected, the work can entail a lot of paperwork and hoops to jump through to get your job done.

educational benefits, opportunities to change assignments and career path. flexible work hours - employees typically 4 X 10 schedule, but can also work 9/80 or other. mentoring is emphasized, although you have to find your own mentor and sessions are on your own and the mentor's own time.

      Cons

management changes frequently, a lot of reorganizations

      Pros

The 9 80 or 4 10 work schedule is really nice, and overall overtime is not generally required.

      Cons

Can be slow to get things done, and hard to find the fun projects to work on as an engineer.

      Pros

Flex time, telecommute options, and 9/80 schedule. Ability to move around after 1 yr in current assignment. Mostly good work environments (assignment dependent)

      Cons

Internal areas can vary widely in how well or poorly they treat staff & workers... despite what company mantra dictates (i.e. inconsistent on walking the walk)

Decent for a couple years, limited upward mobility

13 Jul 2021 - Communications Representative in Denver, CO
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Neat company and mission. The ability to be creative and take risks has evolved over the years. Work/life balance is a plus, depending on your direct leadership. 9/80 schedule is awesome.

      Cons

Corporate leadership is a MESS, and it’s seeping into the business areas. Job stability has decreased dramatically. There is not much upward mobility after you become a level 3. At most companies, you can become a manager with 5+ years of experience in the field. At Lockheed, it takes 12+. Many people are leaving for management positions at other companies.
