      Great staff, awful management

      Pros

Solidarity amongst the customer service assistants is to the level I have never seen in any other company I have worked in! Your colleagues will provide physical and emotional support whenever they can from swapping shifts, support during training and issues at work with customers. If you enjoy working in a team then its definitely the job for you! The pay is pretty good, anyone saying otherwise is CRAZY! Annual leave allocated is great as well, as a part timer I am entitled to over 30 days leave. It is however allocated to you but once again swapping holidays with others in the company is possible.

      Cons

Management!!! On the operational side, my experience of management is a bunch of individuals who are arrogant, over paid and lack any people skills!

No clear leadership or vision to progress with or develop existing staff

      Pros

Travel benefits within London on TfL (and some National Rail) services plus final salary pension and online benefits/cash back scheme. Depending on department/location, annual leave entitlement is available. The company seeks to hire existing staff for promotion within front-line operational roles, before advertising the roles externally.

      Cons

Morale within front-line railway operations is average to low as a result of 2-3 years of poor leadership/management at a senior/Managing Director level, especially as a result of the 'Fit for Future Stations' business remodelling. Unless already in a management grade/band, or a former trainee through the Graduate Scheme, local line management/HR is generally disinterested in further professional development of staff i.e. educational sponsorship for professional courses. Promotion does not take into account previous track record (i.e. attendance at work, Performance & Development reviews, or Competence Management System plan).

      Pros

Good benefits overall, salary is competitive and good annual leave. I worked with some great people, more than other jobs I have had.

      Cons

The shift system is straining on your relationships and general day to day life. You become a hate figure every time there is a strike and have frequent abuse from customers.

      Pros

Good amount of annual leave approximatley 10 weeks. Free travel. No work to take home. Helping a great range of people. There is a opportunity within the company but could be better especially for a large organisation.

      Cons

Can get boring and reptitive day in and day out. Winter can be uncomfortable as you may work in cold stations. Working alone while supervisor is hidden warmly away. Shift work can be tough especially as many staff work 7 days in a row.
