I have been working at Los Angeles USD part-time

    Pros

You have the chance of giving back to the community. Very structured depending on who your site coordinator & supervisors are. Easy to move up as supervisor.

    Cons

Headquarters is hella far but you won’t always have to go, mainly just for the hiring process. You also don’t get to choose your school site, it depends on availability.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Los Angeles USD full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The LAUSD system is supportive of supplying best benefits, excellent working conditions, ongoing training and seminars geared to sharing positive information regarding new teaching techniques, safety in the classroom and the campus both for individuals and during severe weather and/or other unexpected threats. From the beginning, the environment at the main offices and at each school fosters team spirit in all employees and students, which leads to everyone working together for the good of all involved and also inspires sharing new ideas and necessary changes without the usual conflicts. If there are conflicts, the administration and the union work them out by open dialogues looking for win-win solutions.

    Cons

More money is needed to supply the students with textbooks and materials for their classes. Sometimes, there is need for more than one student oriented psychologist per section, so the students who need help may not receive anything more than time-out. Students who are bused in cannot participate in after-school activities.

I have been working at Los Angeles USD part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Making a difference in children's lives is why I chose my career that I did.

    Cons

Some challenges I would say is some of the teachers being stuck to old traditional ways and not allowing children to learn their own way. Only a 1% issue for me.
