I worked at Lucasfilm full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I worked there before George Lucas sold the company. It was a great place filled with tons of really talented people and lots of interesting projects. Like any big, prestigious place to work for, it can be hard to stand-out amongst a lot of talented people. I was lucky and had my opportunities to work on things that were rewarding for me, but it can be easy to remain stagnant.

    Cons

People go to work at Lucasfilm for an opportunity to work on something really interesting, but the overall compensation is on the lower end of what you can expect.

I worked at Lucasfilm full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Relatively well organised, relaxed environment with adequate compute resources and a pipeline that works for the most part. Good people, at times good projects and the environs around the office are quite alive with eateries and activities. Having a shower at work really helps with daytime exercise. It can be a chill place to park yourself while using their brand name to find yourself a better opportunity.

    Cons

The office is a hermetically sealed fish tank, not even a mail room or front desk and absolutely no interaction with Singapore's rich tech community or workforce. The walls are grey and with "hand me down" shot work arriving it all contributes to an apathetic and non existant office culture. Staff are underpaid and "payrises" are typically below the inflation rate. Benefits are being progressively cut and there is little...

    Advice to Management

Engage more with Singapore. Offer a real career pathway, you may be surprised how many staff are just waiting for an excuse to quit. Inject some life into the office by starting with offering more than just symbolic perks and "rah rah" thankyou talks. Attract and keep top talent by paying equitable rates, then start attracting top shelf shot work and build your own office identity. Charge more for the work and pass this...

I worked at Lucasfilm full-time for more than a year

    Pros

HR does its best to cover up what happens on the floor on a day to day basis as best they can by showering you with perks, if you can take the patronising tone by the sups you can hold for a while till you get a better job, after all is said and done, having the company name on your work sheet does carry weight.

    Cons

A rule of thumb is supervisors will give your tasked work on a take (when it is 80% finished by you) to his/her favourite artist to finish and call their own or flat out do it themselves and claim credit and make you look bad to justify it. The place is ridden with manchild characters with very childish attitudes, specially in the compositing area where they are encouraged to be little dictators. Arrogance is rife at...

    Advice to Management

You have to clean house from the top down, department sups are wrecking the place. Get chinese native speaking sups, stop enforcing western culture, we don't get you and we don't want you.
