A Company With a Lot of Heart
15 Jun 2017 - Senior Manager in Maryland Heights, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The people, throughout all levels of the organization, are what make Lumeris exceptional. The expertise, commitment and collaboration of Lumeris employees contribute to a motivated and engaged culture. We all dig in, encourage and support each other, and tackle the hard work and those tough conversations when the need arises. Leadership is making strides to help the organization become more efficient operationally, adding value to roles and the company overall. Flexibility allows for a greater work-life balance, and in turn creates a more dedicated staff. Professionalism and compassion for each other, our clients and their clients is intrinsic to daily interaction. Lumeris has a lot of heart. I'm a realist, and live by the rule that nobody and nothing is perfect, and your outlook is directly related to your attitude. With that said, I have faith in the direction the company is headed.
Cons
No company is perfect. Even with all of the positives, there will always be challenges. Cons? It would be nice to have more heathy lunch choices in the cafe than are currently offered. Parking can be a challenge if you arrive later in the a.m.

Pros
Benefits were OK; coworkers were great; decent work/life balance (although at the expense of getting ahead professionally).
Cons
Management. Some managers set you up to fail and then blame you for not delivering, which then gets brought up at review time and impacts your salary. I was told not to share what I was working on with other teams, even though they would benefit from it (and I'm not talking about protecting a product's secrecy here). Who in their right mind discourages teamwork? Turnover was ridiculous; then the layoffs began. They shut down one of the offices, and the managers in charge got promotions at the expense of everyone else.

Pros
Decent work/life balance; flexible schedule 18 days PTO + 10 holidays No micromanaging (at least in my team) Exposure to several different technologies
Cons
Felt like the company does not have a clear direction. Pulled in multiple directions over short periods of time. No training opportunities nor a clear path to move upwards. Recent layoffs have employees wondering about job security. Subpar benefits package.

Great People, Awful Leadership
11 Mar 2020 - Product Owner in Maryland Heights, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
People on the ground level are great and really intelligent. Pay is good. Good work/life balance for the most part.
Cons
Leadership has no idea what they are doing. Not sure what the strategy is but it seems like they are hiring people who just want a big paycheck.

Exciting, rewarding place to work, but not for everyone
22 Apr 2014 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Full of really smart, competitive and passionate people who are experts in their fields. Compensation is at least market average. The flexible schedules / work from home options really add to the work life balance. As with any start up, employees are not pigeon-holed into one set roles/responsibilities but instead expected to take on a wide range of responsibilities and often have to find their own network of individuals within the company to partner with to get things done. I suspect many people would find this as a Con, but being an experienced professional coming from a huge company, I find this very liberating. Reading the other reviews out on this site, I do not really disagree with most of them (except the personal attacks) but rather I see many of the cons as opportunities and differences from working in a large, established bureaucracy where you are told exactly what to do and how to do it. Yes, management often changes direction and does not do a good job communicating, but I believe that is because everyone is moving very fast and trying to capture a big piece of a quickly emerging market. Yes, there are big personalities and many competing visions of what the company 'should' become. But again, I find this exciting and feel like I too have the ability to influence the direction of the company too. Yes, we are 'running hot' and there is a chance we may not make it to the finish line, but if we do we will have something exciting to show for all the hard work. This is a great place to work for those who are confident in their ideas and willing to fight for what they believe is the right way to do things. This is not the company for those who would rather come to work every day knowing exactly what you are expected to do and slowly work their way up the corporate ladder.
Cons
The company is distributed across three geographies and there is a lack of interest in properly involving the two satellite offices in meetings or conversations. For example, video conferencing is rarely used and teleconferencing etiquette is non-existent; making it very hard for remote employees to contribute effectively in meetings. Too many decisions are made in the hallway or an office and never communicated to the organization. Benefits are definitely not what you will get at a big company. Career paths are not clearly defined and promotions do not follow a regular process. There isn't much of a corporate culture or identify yet and many departments are silo-ed and feel more like clubs than teams. HR does not have that much power to affect real change and it is unclear how much the employees will benefit if/when the company reaches its goal of becoming the market leader in helping to transform healthcare delivery in America.
