I worked at Lush full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great product with great ethics, made my friends for life there, discount! I worked at lush a long time ago, for 4 years. While I was there, I met some incredible people, learnt a lot and really came out of my shell. It was great for my confidence and some of the folks I met there I think I will know forever.

    Cons

There was no HR, felt taken advantage of, felt culty. While I was there I was one of two supervisors. My manager had a breakdown as a result of being poorly treated by company,(we had high targets and she would often put in 60+ hour weeks to get us there) and then the same happened to my fellow supervisor I was left to run the store during a refit, with no support, and on minimum wage. When I asked for a payrise I was told no. The company threatens staff (this may have changed) with the '1000s of others want this job' and this means they often take advantage of staff. I was also was an instore trainer and had to make my own training materials in my own time, unpaid. This seems ubsurd to me now.

I worked at Lush full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Lush really is an innovative company. There is still a start-up mentality, and a family run business vibe; this has pros and cons in itself. Development & training are not evenly distributed or accessible, but if you're smart, lucky and in the right place at the right time it can work out well and it's possible to progress. For me, I could definitely be 'myself' at work far more than in corporate environments, and it took leaving to appreciate the value in this.

    Cons

Lush expects a lot from sales assistants / lower paid part time roles; the high expectation are challenging to manage against. In general, salaries are low even for retail and benefits are not consistent across markets.

    I worked at Lush full-time

    Pros

Lots of effort and funds set aside for charity grants. Very diverse workplace.

    Cons

Slow to develop staff outside of middle management. Needs to hire from outside the company or train the staff. There is a line between being a "family-run business" and maintaining a level of mediocrity due to nepotism

    I worked at Lush full-time

    Pros

Great benefits and freebies, amazing colleagues, thorough training, fun environment, great parties, the skills you learn would be transferrable to other jobs, would be an ideal retail job if you don't mind a busy shop floor (I loved it)

    Cons

Poor work/life balance as burning yourself out in order to get your work done is sometimes encouraged and celebrated, management often discourage you from progressing if you leaving their team would be an inconvenience to them, sickness and illness is handled poorly, rubbish pay for what's expected of you (in certain roles)
