      Pros

You can work when you want as much as you want in a day as long as you take a break after 12 hours sometimes 14 depending on demand.

      Cons

They take too much of your money claiming 8 different fees just to pay you $3 for a 30 minute ride. And the customer paid $46. To much wear and tear on your care with no help and rewards. The bonus they give is " Do 30 rides for $65 extra, but the fine print is if you do not make the $65 in 30 rides we will pay the difference.

      Great for Part-time work

      Pros

      - It's great to build your own schedule and have the flexibility to work when you want. - Pay is great, however, you have to make sure you drive during busy periods. - Great conversations with random strangers!

      Cons

      - It's difficult to do this full-time as driving for 6+ hours/day can be straining. - Traffic can be brutal during certain parts of the day. Must be patient! - Wear and tear on your car is not ideal. Make sure you take it in for regular maintenance.

Easy work with a few caveats

      Pros

You can work the hours you want for how long you need. You can decide to go offline after you make an exact dollar amount or do so when you feel the time is right. This is also great work if you are a people person because I have had great conversations with people that I would have never had the chance to in other job positions or walks of life. You will make money as long as you do not make a habit of declining ride requests, and are willing to drive anywhere!

      Cons

The hourly pay is not quite what it seems until to take time to factor in: 1. The amount of hours you were online (this includes both giving rides and waiting for rides) 2. The hours you choose to work ( You can make money anytime of the day but Weekday rush hours can be good or bad, and Friday & Saturday day and nights are often better) 3. The wear and tear on your car (You are driving your car. The more miles you put on any car brings with it the importance of upkeep. The easily identifiable things are oil changes, tire rotations, tire replacements, break jobs, and car washes) 4) No matter how great of a driver you are ACCIDENTS HAPPEN! (If you rely on income from this job you must realize that the money immediately stops coming in if you get into a wreck that requires a lot of work to get you back on the road. Then you will have to rent a car to continue working while your car is in the shop. Regardless if the accident was your fault or not, this is extra money coming out of your pocket for a while. You can get it back from the other driver's insurance if it was their fault, but it is still a hassle. If it was your fault then you are still temporarily out of a car and your insurance has to pay for the accident and you insurance rate go up!

      Pros

      Meeting people, good conversations, etc.

      Cons

For one it’s a safety hazard because they change the person that you are supposed to be picking up while you are in the middle of driving to pick someone else up. HUGE safety hazard. You could be making a right turn then they change the rider and now you need to make a left turn. They clearly don’t care about the drivers of their vehicles. Also, the pay is subpar. It’s so much that I could say about this company but it’s so much wrong with it that it’s too much too remember. To make everything worse, they have no support phone number to call. If that doesn’t say “I do t care about the drivers” I don’t know what will. Also, the pay is terrible when you factor in fuel and the wear and tear you are putting on your vehicle. Please, if you care about your vehicle, even more importantly yourself, DO NOT waste your time with this company.

      Pros

None. Worst company I’ve ever worked for.

      Cons

For starters, they lie. After comparing cost and earnings with enough passengers, it’s found that Lyft takes 50-60% of the fare, not the 20-30% advertised. Continually depreciating rewards program. When I first started almost 2 years ago, they paid out $5 for every 500 points. That program is gone, has only been replaced with a program that you pay Lyft to learn a language. They used to give out amps to their gold and platinum tier drivers. Even after raising this as a safety issue driving unidentified at night, in Chicago, they did nothing. Told me the amp program was done, yet still see many Lyft amps when driving around. Pay seems great up front, but after you figure for taxes, wear and tear, ipass (toll) funds, and $3.50 a gallon gasoline, the earnings only average about $10-$12 an hour. Lastly don’t ever have an issue. It will get bounced halfway around the world to a help center where all the Indian there is going to do, is patronIzingly type back the rules and procedures, whether that helps or not.

A shadow of what it used to be, turning into a scam

      Pros

Some degree of flexibilty, you may work when you want, but obviously demand and surges dont work that way. So yeah if you dont want to work all weekend, sure you can work 3 am tuesday if it suits you.

      Cons

In 2016 when I started, what the driver earned was tied DIRECTLY to what the customer paid, with the company taking no more than 25% of the fare. Now, the rider fare and driver payment are decoupled, with the company utilizing a brutal rate card paying 60 CENTS a mile, before gas, wear and tear and taxes. This means that for 30 -45 mins of intensive driving, a passenger may pay 30, 40 even fifty dollars or more for a single ride. Youll keep 8-10$ , for most of an hours work, before expenses. Its a scam. Almost all management and support is automated, it is incredibly difficult to contact a live person to resolve issues with pay and app, which are frequent and costly.

      Pros

Generally found the passengers to be better mannered and more polite while driving under Lyfts brand. Didn't feel the need to bother with the headaches of the other companies available and the horror stories I've heard of the competition. You're not going to get rich doing this but can easily clear $100+ in roughly 5-6 hours of work or less in a pinch and more if you work a full 8+ hours (If you drive in a busy city). Loved being able to deposit my earnings instantly to my bank account on the same day I drove which was extremely helpful. Any passenger you rate a 3 star or less I believe the system will try to not match you up with that person again if you just didn't like the passenger for whatever reason. Do yourself a favor and order some sort of LED light for the roof or windows on Amazon to help customers locate you at night. Just be nice and be yourself, but also be able to read the room and offer to adjust settings like heat/AC or music choices etc.

      Cons

Wear and tear on your vehicle. Gas for your vehicle. It's frowned upon to decline a ride outright and will hurt your acceptance rate. You may get some intoxicated people, but honestly just stop driving before midnight to sort of avoid that issue if you're not sure you want them in your car. To be fair they are just trying to get home safe, but so are you and you never know what people are going to be like... so use your good judgment.
