Pros
AHL had almost flat organisational structure. High visibility of personal achievement and ability to make impact. Fast and relatively flexible decisions making. Pragmatic approach to tech. Internal mobility is amazing and used. Lots of extremely smart people.
Cons
Average benefits package. Flat organisational structure makes it hard to climb roles ladder.

Pros
I worked with some really smart people who really knew what they are doing, and I encountered this in various departments and teams. Smart bunch, prestigious and intellectually stimulating environment.
Cons
Management had put in place cost-cutting measures which meant salary freezes for many years. High staff turnover as a result and morale was low.

Cons
Culture clash between the scientists and geeks at AHL and the wideboy spivs at GLG. Decisions made behind closed doors and the data massaged to fit it later.
