I have been working at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Friendly staff, great benefits package, good senior leadership

    Cons

The path up the corporate ladder is a frustrating one. The ability to get stuck in one position for a long while is pretty much the way of the hotels and casinos out here.

I have been working at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino full-time for less than a year

    Pros

It's a great place to get some experience then move on. People are very nice and easy to get along with.

    Cons

Compared to other hotels their operation is very behind when it comes to technology. High turnover. Many of their procedures are very dated and unnecessary.

  3. "Decent company with added beuracracy"

I worked at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

    Pros

Free food. Work-life balance is good.

    Cons

As with all MGM hotels, you can expect bureaucracy and an extreme tendency to think within the box

"This was a great first "real" job."

I worked at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

At the time, it was great a great paying job. Majority of the employees got along and had after work or weekend outings. The hotel is nice and so are the rooms, making it a better experience for guests and therefore you, as an employee.

    Cons

It took forever to get vacation time, one week after one year, two weeks after three years, and I think it was three after seven years. Upper management regularly oversold suites on big weekends, especially two-bedroom suites that were impossible to replace with another suite type. This lead to heavy complaints (especially as a supervisor). Like all hotels, they try to get by with as little staff as possible, leading to long lines on busy days, which equals upset guests. They also published in-house election documents that basically endorsed all Republican candidates in 2004 and set them out around the employee dining room on all tables. I'm not sure if this is still a practice, but it did upset me.
