I have been working at MarketFinance full-time

    Pros

Super smart colleagues Interesting & rewarding work - helping UK SMEs thrive Great camaraderie Supportive environment - company supports its employees, and a great place to gain responsibility

    Cons

Pace can be intense - great for learning but need to make sure you also take the time to recharge Some teams quite lean - again good for learning but puts pressure on teams/individuals to be really focused on priorities

I have been working at MarketFinance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

great people to work with theyre all very very nice, so in turn there is nice culture here in terms of people

    Cons

If you are not in the product team or sales team forget about clear, (if any) career progression until a job should rarely pop up I mean for Heaven's sake there are no promotions No trust to do their job for people, Extremely frustrating work culture, Awkward management

I have been working at MarketFinance full-time

    Pros

Working for a scale-up company means there are so many areas where you can make a real positive impact on the business, it is an environment for go-getters, who seek a challenges and want to solve problems. As a software engineer you get to work on every area of the business, from building new frontend services, automating complex business processes and integrating with new payment and open banking partners, building ETL pipelines, deploying ML models, setting up CI/CD and working with Azure.

    Cons

Working for a scale-up means there aren't established processes for everything, and you are required to drive this and introduce them yourself, however there isn't bureaucracy and you can build things fast. People like the idea of saying they want to work for a start/scale-up but the environment is demanding and not everyone can keep up.

I have been working at MarketFinance full-time

    Pros

    - Appetite to grow - Genuinely interested in growing but maintaining a high standard of hiring and engineering bar - Whilst it it a fintech, they are helping a lot of businesses grow and sustain in a very tough market - Very thorough hiring process - Fully remote

    Cons

-Whilst we are helping small-medium sized businesses, and there is social impact, there isn't enough content around this and therefore the positive impact of our products is often felt indirectly.

I have been working at MarketFinance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people the company attracts are great, very talented and genuinely nice people to be around and work with all day. Sales teams are collaborative and helpful to each other rather than any form of dog eat dog attitude. The business trajectory is definitely on the way up and if you work hard you can rise quickly.

    Cons

Management can be a bit scattergun at times in terms of strategy / product focus with a rush to get new features out instead of perfect what is currently offered. Career progression has been an issue but steps are being made to address this now as senior management has stabilised.

I have been working at MarketFinance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Plenty of challenges, room to develop and learn new things (take on responsibility, etc). - Intelligent, well-motivated colleagues that are happy to debate and discuss various topics.

    Cons

    - Given we're offering financial products to SMEs, the positive impact of our products is often felt indirectly.

    Pros

    Your birthday off, that's all

    Cons

    - Micro management from the top down - Manager lack managerial and technical experience and founders/ C-suite/ senior managers who will make you feel small instead of empowering their teams - No career development invested in employees to skill up or to gain further exposure - You either buy into their agenda and be part of the "system" or just leave (it's all pretence to say they like people who challenge their way of working) - It's all politics instead of delivering value /work

I have been working at MarketFinance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Employees are heard. Surveys are sent out for employee feedback and actions are taken accordingly to address employee concerns/ preferences. Management are transparent. Questions may be submitted anonymously and management will answer each week at Townhall. New joiners find the company to be forward thinking.

    Cons

Fast moving company with scrappy solutions at times. This leads to rework, but people are willing to work together to fix issues. There is a forgiving and understanding nature among the employees.

    I worked at MarketFinance full-time

    Pros

People are nice despite working in an environment designed to keep people down despite the promise of progression. Managers even mention that staff are underpaid.

    Cons

Leadership is shocking. Elitist and has no ability to relate to people in the company. Disengaged who love to use buzz words but always comes across as awkward. It's so poorly run the turnover is high and not because 'people cant cut it in the environment' (Why would you let those people in in the first place) People leave because there is no plan to make the feel welcome and people are thrown about and expected to learn on the fly with no training. No diversity on the exec team. My interview process was all men.
