Large manufacturing company but no growth opportunities
7 Feb 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Decent benefits. Emphasis on engineering. Interesting projects to work on.
Cons
Old-fashioned company, not a good work-life balance. Some people had hybrid working schedules and some weren't allowed to. Not a lot of diversity, especially in the executive level, especially at the Allenton location. Not a lot of growth opportunities. Some management could use more training on being a leader. They try to make it a "family" culture, but it definitely did not feel like family, and cultivating loyalty was not a priority.

Pros
Great people! Everyone is willing to work with you. Clean facility and high safety considerations.
Cons
Do not have remote working. Production workers do not receive vacation during first year.

My experience was fun while it lasted, but very poor ethics making it rather a disappointing, frustrating time.
13 Mar 2012 -RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
When the manager tells you to "build, build, build" giving you thoughts of job security. Most of the people you work with not only do their job, but were some of the best that you had ever worked with.
Cons
Very poorly ran from the start and no change in site with worse conditions pending in the future leading to a lost cause.

Pros
Had some changeover in management to bring about changes for the better. The newer senior management was better.
Cons
Small company trying to act like big company. Did not progress with time, kept doing the same things expecting different results, stuck in the 70s - 80s era.

Ideas Made in Metal by Exceptional People
27 Jul 2017 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Co-workers are some of the best I've ever had. Not only are they dedicated to their craft, but also to each other. The Executive Level is very good at communicating organizational goals and standings via All-Employee meetings. Departments aren't "siloed", so high performers have outlets for extra opportunity.
Cons
Located in a rural community, it's easy to underestimate Maysteel's offerings. I wish I had known about them sooner!
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Freedom to work on your own while still being in a team environment, management was easy to get along with.
Cons
Management seemed to favor some employees over others for reasons that were unclear.
- Former Contractor, more than 1 year★★★★★
Work for a union or expect to have less opportunities as a woman
29 May 2015 - Anonymous Contractor in Milwaukee, WIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good at training new employees
Cons
Upper management is a revolving door.
