    Negative Outlook

I have been working at MetLife full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

great benefits (dental, health, legal plan, discounts), people you work with really make the day better, the good days are the good days. Company does little things to surprise you once and a while.

    Cons

commissions are going down the goals are going up and harder guidelines to try to sell. management only cares about your numbers or themselves. There isn't a lot of productive problem solving. Too many favorites. sketchy call routing system. no clear plan to say what the next 6 months would look like. Upper management takes no accountability for bad leads or lack of leads. sometimes tend to hire the wrong people for the wrong positions who dont have insight for sales or even what your job is about. The whole process for how the phone rings and the clientele who reach us needs to be examined and improved. period.

I have been working at MetLife full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    401k, PTO, Annual bonus,

    Cons

glass ceiling, favoritism, lies from management regarding promotions to unworthy candidates, poor communication with upper management. Work overload. No work/life balance. Focus on metrics with disregard for employee happiness. Forced daily overtime due to work load. forced nights and weekends. poor communication between departments. Poor opportunity for advancement as they will collude with selected employees resign so they may be immediately re-hired as "outside hires." It's simply smoke, mirrors, and lies at every turn.

I have been working at MetLife full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

-Good amount of PTO, benefits package, 401K matching -Salary can be decent if you get a good HR manager; yearly bonus -Reimbursement for certifications and college education without having to stay at the company for a specified period afterwards -Remote flexibility depending on department -Some locations have on-site perks like fitness centers -Openly supports diversity

    Cons

-Countless processes that bring no value whatsoever; takes an eternity for anything to be accomplished, and you are not allowed to question these processes despite no one being able to explain their value -Upper management is incredibly disconnected and fails at transparency; leadership by intimidation is present at the upper levels; lack of support for lower levels with a 'just get it done' attitude, even if it goes against previous direction -Poor culture where those who are most aggressive and escalate frequently will achieve the most; as mentioned in other reviews, you will encounter a lot of "not my problem" people; you are encouraged to treat consultants as disposable resources -Relocation initiatives with poor communication and little regard for current employees regardless of tenure for the sake of achieving tax breaks in Cary, NC -Poorly designed open office layout with endless distractions and noise -Tracking of badge scans and desk presence, so have to be careful with "remote flexibility" -Technology and systems are sub-par -No real initiative to address salary gaps for women and overqualified / top performing employees -Values are unclear and real direction is lacking; the company seems disingenuous in saying it cares about what employees have to say
