I have been working at Metaswitch full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Supportive, team based structure of company. Very good work-life balance (no pressure / obligation to do overtime, relatively flexible working hours). For that reason job is pretty low stress too.

    Cons

Not diverse at all. Out of ~37 grads more than 30 were white male.

I worked at Metaswitch full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

For new grads and non tech sector employees, there’s a lot of opportunities within the company since they are confident that they can train anyone that passes the thorough interview process to learn the products. A strong proponent of remote working with very good work life balance. Very nice coworkers that are willing to help when asked upon. Majority of the workers will say that their favorite thing about the company is the people. Opportunities for employees to get promoted to management as they like managers who can sub in and do the work when necessary. Steady sales growth with healthy cashflow the past few years.

    Cons

The company’s emphasis over the past 5 years has been to cut expenses instead of focusing on growth as in other great pre-ipo companies. Unfair US wage structure where every city in the US is considered 1 labor market so employees in metropolitan cities risk being paid below local market value. No pay adjustments for ICs that get promoted to managers. Claims that it’s not in their policy. Half a week of pay for paternal leave with hesitation on granting government PFL. A culture of secretive non open communication from management. No emphasis on continuous training (no budget for taking professional courses, etc) Rarely would the company use industry standard software or tools to help promote work productivity. This makes it difficult for employees to gain relevant skills that can be used for careers outside of Metaswitch if you stay there for too long. Company housing in the U.K. is like a college dorm and is not suitable for seasoned professionals.

    Pros

Focus on employee morale and work-life balance. Opportunities for training and personal development. Friendly and unpretentious people.

    Cons

Salary progression not the most competetive and not very transparent. Quality and style of management varies a lot. Lack of lateral hires to bring in outside ideas/experience.

I have been working at Metaswitch full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

You're given the opportunities you can handle as soon as you want them. Reasonable remuneration Good work life balance The employees are supportive of each other and the workplace isn't political.

    Cons

Not as highly paid as other software jobs (but equally, fewer pressures) Located in Enfield so not amazingly central Historic tendency to not take on new technologies as quickly as other companies (although that's improved recently)

I worked at Metaswitch for less than a year

    Pros

The project I completed at Metaswitch was really interesting and also flexible to suit my own interests. The work I did was challenging, helpful to the company and I acquired many useful skills regarding software engineering. An internship at Metaswitch is a great learning opportunity in my opinion. People at Metaswitch are very supportive and happy to help. Metaswitch organizes a hackathon and a couple of other activities for interns, which I enjoyed a lot (this takes one week, and it happens in their Enfield office). I also did two presentation at Metaswitch, which is good to practise the important skill of presenting. There are many regular sports activities, which are great to get to know your colleagues better. The work-life balance is great, and the environment is almost completely stress-free. Other pros include performance bonuses (although not too big), subsidised accommodation, free welcome and leaving drinks and great equipment for work.

    Cons

There were not many cons, but still a couple of them. Probably the most significant is the salary is not that competitive when comparing it with other tech companies. There could also be more benefits, e.g. free lunches. The projects could be a bit more team based, although the intern hackathon is great for developing team-work skills.
