Pros
Lots of resources are poured into personal development, and I feel like I've learned/developed a lot here. Work is relatively interesting. Very nice work environment, with loads of perks.
Cons
Salary progression is quite slow. Also when starting, you can be placed in any role, seemingly at random, and it might not match what you want, even if you've asked for a role specifically.

Pros
Metaswitch are top of their field. The working environment is friendly while still being challenging and the skills you learn are invaluable.
Cons
The work you do while on a certain project doesn't vary much.

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Metaswitch
Pros
Flexitime with reasonable working hours. Challenging work with no requirement of previous experience in software engineering. The culture made for a very nice work environment to work in.
Cons
Bus ride from Coventry train station was about 45 minutes. The commute was long, but on the edge of feasibility.
Pros
Good working environment, relaxed atmosphere, lots of things happening all the time. Friendly people, willing to help. It was my first job, and I loved it
Cons
Far from centre of London. It takes very long to go to centre or to any airport

RecommendsI have been working at Metaswitch for less than a year
Pros
- does not require interns to have prior computing experience, great for new starters in computing who's looking to build experience - have good training and development plans on employees; plenty of opportunities to learn - flexible working hours - relaxing and friendly (and productive) working environment - meaningful project for interns
Cons
The location of the Enfield office in is very far from central London, which might bring some inconvenience. (But the company offers company houses which are quite close to the office so it's not that bad.)

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookI worked at Metaswitch full-time for more than 5 years
Pros
Very intelligent staff Generally a non-political friendly working environment 'Brown Bags' talks allow staff to learn about technical details they wouldn't otherwise know about. There used to be good company outings - not sure if that's still the case
Cons
Incredibly cliquey Management not up to scratch- tend to be management due to years served rather than management ability. Fall out with the wrong person and you'll be victimized
Continue readingThanks for taking the time to write this review and apologies for our delayed response. We’re pleased to read your comments about Metaswitch generally having a non-political and friendly environment, but disappointed to hear your thoughts on cliqueness. We pride ourselves on promoting and encouraging a welcoming and inclusive culture, but recognise the challenge of maintaining this at all times as we grow. This is something we will certainly be focusing on and we value your feedback. Regarding our comments on our management, we always aim to appoint managers on their ability rather than length of service. You may be interested to hear that we have recently appointed a number of new senior managers and executives who have joined us from other organisations; we hope they will add to, invigorate and strengthen our management team. Thanks again for your review, I’m sorry to hear you decided not to develop your career at Metaswitch, but I wish you the best of luck for the future. Max - HR

RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Metaswitch full-time for less than a year
Pros
The work environment is relaxing, tons of work to do which keeps me motivated and busy. The company is on its way to IPO. Altho Metaswitch is considered a start-up, it does not run like a start-up. The benefit is great, the company 401K contributes 10% of your salary at no employee's expense. I cannot be more happy to work here
Cons
the parking situation is bad which means I have to be at work before 8am to find free street parking, otherwise I'd have to pay which can go up to $30/day.
