Former Employee - Food Service (Waiter)

I worked at Mitchells & Butlers full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good work/life balance, rota requests were honoured, training is excellent, staff discount is useful- can eat in many different restaurants within the chain

    Cons

It is a chain so menu is repetitive, 10% service charge is automatically added to guest bill and this can be uncomfortable to explain to guests, staff food is not free, there is no staff area to sit on breaks, heavy focus on targets & company standards with little incentive rewards for staff

    Cons

I have been working at Mitchells & Butlers full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Some very good employee perks and plenty of scope for career progression.

    Cons

All managers have to work key, special events days i.e all bank holidays, Mother & father's day as well as all Christmas key days including Christmas Day. Not very good if you have a family as you cannot spend time with them. Bonus Scheme is very low for assistant managers and not competitive compared to other companies.
