Great place to work, can't wait to be back in office!

      Pros

The company has tried very hard to be flexible during the pandemic. They make sure we have the correct equipment, the communication has been frequent and people check on one another on a regular basis. The teams are trying hard to come up with new game ideas and working together to make 2021 a profitable, awesome year.

      Cons

Any company has room for improvement and each individual can think of something different that would be a "con" for them. I think everyone at Mobilityware is really trying their best.

      Pros

A culture that values what their employees truly want. They seem to get the idea that happy employees are productive employees. Having worked on a variety of employers, I say with sincerity MobilityWare really is a great place to work.

      Cons

Some people need a lot of structure, if you're that kind of person... Maybe not the place for you.

      Gaming without the crunch

      Pros

No overtime Unlimited PTO (and people actually take advantage of it) Actually feel that the company and the team care about you and your success Ad based monetization means focus on making fun games that keep players coming back instead of tricking whales into dropping $100s into your game Clear path for advancement for product managers Company is growing, meaning opportunity for advancement

      Cons

Let's face it, Solitaire isn't the most exciting game on the planet to work on (although new games are moving away from that paradigm, see Bubble Shooter Pop!) Pay is probably not as high as I could get at another mobile gaming company Diversity wise it's mostly men and white/asian people. That said, the executive team (minus the male founders) are 3/4 women.

Trying to teach your grandparents how to use their smart phone

      Pros

Stable revenue. Some super smart people and teams. Very sweet and family-oriented culture (like having supper with grandma and grandpa).

      Cons

No industry leaders. They would never join the company after being interviewed by the team. CEO is the founder and has little understanding of games and software development more generally. He has made almost a decade of bad hiring decisions and acquisitions. The ones who are still in power are actually just vying for his seat. Beyond that, it's been a revolving door in leadership. Solitaire pays for this.

      Flexible and Inclusive

      Pros

Good at acknowledging and respecting LGBTQ+ team members. Most engineering processes here are truly agile and as such are ever evolving and flexible to suit our needs. No crunch culture, literally none. There is a strong sentiment here that crunch should not be required, and despite sometimes pivots into immediate deadlines, we do stick to that.

      Cons

Not working on high prestige games.

Management Holding Back Growth of Team & Business

Apr 17, 2021 - Marketing Manager in Irvine, CA
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Some good people to work (although some are no longer in full time roles and/or don't have much influence) - Relatively stable mobile game company with runway from their Solitaire games - Difficult to get fired (a con for some teams)

      Cons

      - Mostly incompetent leadership that's both out of touch with the industry and is not data-driven; often gets in the way or sets their teams back years (decades) in their decision making - Favoritism toward bad apples who don't pull their weight, a culture lacking accountability and follow through has developed at the detriment of those willing to put in the work - Teams/individuals are often scapegoated by leadership for issues that are a result of the leadership's decisions

      MobilityWare Response

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. While the success of Solitaire, as well as some of our other card and puzzle titles, has allowed MobilityWare to remain as a steady, well-respected publisher we are always looking for new ways to grow both in the mobile gaming space and as an employer. Your input as a former employee is extremely valuable in both regards and it is deeply appreciated.
