Constantly changing goals. Top management not very responsive to feedback. Throws out ideas prematurely. Small company so limited career growth options.

Pros

Very few fintech companies have built truly innovative products like Motif. I feel like Motif was a bit ahead of its times for a world that's still enamored by commission-free trading of single stocks (Robinhood)! I still can't find a product that translates ideas to investments seamlessly, it's a pity that Motif didn't have the impact on the investing world that it should have.

Cons

Was chaotic, it felt like a no-brainer that this product would be great for retail investors but building brand and trust in the finserv world is not easy and that led to a lot of failed experiments.

Met some really smart and hard-working co-workers

CEO is not trustworthy, constantly lies to employees about business outlook. Salaries are pretty low compared to current bay area standards. Visa processing are done haphazardly in the last minute

Amazing Infrastructure and work environment. Training team is really fast-paced. Everyone are really helpful, from management to the security professional in the company.

Growth can be a little slow, monotonous work and salary growth can be a little issue

- As a relatively small and nimble company, there is a lot of opportunity to gain experience in different roles and projects, if desired. - Management is always open to new ideas coming from employees, especially those that help drive growth or business - The team itself is seasoned and mature, with many having years of Wall St. & Silicon Valley experience that they'd like shake up - There is no set career path at Motif, you really need to take ownership of your own progress. However, the experience gained at Motif is valuable to leverage for the next role you might be looking at - People who succeed at this company are those who are self-starters, take initiative, and are curious to learn new things (not just the task that is being asked)

- Given that it's a small team, people may be asked to take on a number of different roles as business and product lines evolve - Motif's culture is to build an MVP, test it, make strategic improvements, and learn quickly what works & doesn't work - Not necessarily a negative, but this is very much a founder-led company
