    Pros

Benefits for full time staff, great deals, and you get to learn lots about outdoor equipment

    Cons

Customers can be exceptionally difficult and the store can be understaffed and disorganized

    Advice to Management

Put price tags on items!! It causes so much confusion to not have prices on goods

I worked at Mountain Equipment Co-op full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

People are generally great; attempts are made to get people active.

    Cons

Management have ruined the collaborative feeling of the company. No vision and no idea how to improve morale for those remainders that have not quit or been fired.

    Advice to Management

People leave not because of the company, but because of management. Do the company a favor and move on. The damage is done.

I have been working at Mountain Equipment Co-op full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Coworkers are often good, good prodeals, benefits if you manage to attain full time.

    Cons

Poor training, constant moving goalposts to move up, no career prospects, rampant favouritism from management, sexism from management. Lower management teams are hit or miss, often lack experience in management and it shows. Very little support for staff struggling with being bullied and harassed. Impossible to move up or get full time work. High expectation of output with no compensation. Extremely low morale at many...

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff, perform exit interviews, promote people who care. Don’t chose managers out of desperation and nepotism.

    I worked at Mountain Equipment Co-op part-time

    Pros

Great if you love helping people and if your passionate about the outdoors. Also whatever adventurous activities you do there is usually at least one coworker who will join you!

    Cons

Hours aren't great in the off season and you have to work most weekends. Also the post is quite low. Just a little over minimum

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff advise. Focus on what made the company great and don't get too caught up in staying in trend.

I worked at Mountain Equipment Co-op full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

The people. Caring and loyal to each other... not necessarily to management.

      Cons

Continues to be a hard place to work. Poor morale. Stress all the time. Leaders are lacking in any kind of empathy, or organization. Out for themselves. Too many people terminated and leaving.

      Advice to Management

I don’t know whether they can fix what they have done. Where is the Board in all of this?
