RecommendsPositive OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Mountain Warehouse full-time
Pros
Every day was different. People we great. Positive attitude.
Cons
No office. The only PC was the till. Wouldn't install CCTV or a store net radio. Long days. Email address collection and selling cheap add ons. Almost de-valued product that customers actually visit a store to buy. I notices a few cheeky moves from higher management but I have seen much worse in other businesses.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at Mountain Warehouse part-time for less than a year
Pros
extra hours when they are available
Cons
everything, poor management, treated unfairly, sales job not retail, all they care about is add ons and pushing items on to customer's and getting email adresses, horrible company to work for. Was told after working for them they always take people on and replace after a few months.

RecommendsNeutral OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Mountain Warehouse part-time for less than a year
Pros
Fun staff, discount on clothes, small store, good location
Cons
Old systems, a little glitchy, they put lots of weight on selling impulse add-ons to customers

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Mountain Warehouse part-time for less than a year
Pros
50% staff discount on the tatt that they sell.
Cons
Horrible and entitled customers. KPI's on successful email requests and add ons. Being yelled at by horrible customers for asking for emails or trying to upsell items. Not much work life balance. You will probably be given the cold shoulder and constructively dismissed if you have any time off from injury.

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookApproves of CEOI worked at Mountain Warehouse part-time for more than a year
Pros
The manager that hired me had built a diverse team of people that had experience, he was removed from the company and replaced by a manager that was not competent, he took this team and reduced it dust inside 6 months, I was one of the last two and I was signed off with depression. We were replaced by fashion sales people that didn't know or understand the items, my area manager didn't want to address any of the issues I had raised in my email to him until I was at work again, instead I quit. Employee discount was great, on the whole pay was prompt
Cons
Add-On sales pressure, same add-ons 2 years after I left the company! No hours for seasonal staff, no transfer of contract from seasonal to permanent. Lack of promotional opportunities.

Pros
None. Zero. Nadda. Zilch. Nothing.
Cons
Everything. This is one of the worst compaines I have ever worked for. Zero structure, zero help from upper management, no proper HR for a company of massive turn over, constant comparison to other stores in the area in regards to hounding customers to sign up for a discount card or they have to pay retail price and Add ons.. with emails sent out weekley to all the stores embarrassing people who do not perform , deliveries are a total NIGHTMARE and come in mixed in boxes and way to much for a store to keep up with and maintain. The wage will make you laugh from sales assistant to store manager. At all costs. AVOID

Dear reviewer, I'm here! We now have a People Team. We are a big business and in recognition of that we now have a team dedicated to all our colleagues across the globe to make working for MW as exciting as we believe it could be. When you posted this in October I hadn't yet started. Thank you for your comments. It's important that you know we do read these and act on them. We have a really comprehensive suite of training opportunities for all levels, across all departments. We have recently launched a new apprenticeship scheme in leadership and management that will create our new store managers and area managers of the future. It's very exciting and can continue to grow this. We like to think that there are lots of pros to working for Mountain Warehouse, not just things like the incredible 50% discount to all staff, but we also appreciate that not everyone will like everything we do. Thank you again for your comments, we can't change without knowing how our colleagues feel.

RecommendsPositive OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI have been working at Mountain Warehouse part-time for more than a year
Pros
Great items makes easy to make sales. Great staff and management. A lot of opportunity for promotions. I love the items we sell here.
Cons
With the minimum wage increase there isn't a lot of hours available. The company is also very reliant on the add ons when they are not consistent with what is considered an add on.

Pros
employee discount friendly customers friendly sales associates
Cons
bad managers, no training, no career growth, manipulative and aggressive. crazy amount of work with no option for a mistake. no support. very toxic environment. a lot of pressure on getting add-ons and emails which totally ruin general customer service, big pressure on sales all the time. it was bad experience for me and I didn't enjoy working there at all.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at Mountain Warehouse part-time for more than 3 years
Pros
50% Staff Discount Nice Staff Thats it
Cons
Incessant price changes Constant pressure of Add-ons and customer emails Relentless deliveries, sometimes in excess of 40 boxes per week No idea of stock levels within the store Receive counselling if you do not reach targets Have to try and sell stock which is way below par and quite often leaks, falls apart and is generally sub standard Outdated procedures Obsessive practice of taking photographs of everything for VM purposes IT department generally decline to ring back if there are problems with the tills Store reports are beyond laughable. Area managers walk round the store desperately trying to find something to mark you down on and usually find something. Customer service could be better and actually at least give the impression they know what they are doing instead of prattling through each and everyday wondering where lost customer orders are.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at Mountain Warehouse full-time
Pros
50% off staff discount The people (other than management ) you get to meet
Cons
Where to even start? In my first month alone two other employees quit - really high staff turnover due to working conditions and poor stompshere set by management. Poor managment, Have to work an 8hr shift for a 30min break. Constant push for stupid add ons. Poorly trained managers who are basically bullies. Area managers with great 'action plans' that aren't work the paper they are printed on.
