    Pros

50% employee discount. Very easy job with shipment and behind the register.

    Cons

takes a while to promote someone who has been there longer than 3 years. Can be a very unorganized company when it comes to sales.

I have been working at Mountain Warehouse full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Teams are friendly Relaxed/casual office Free fruit Early finish on Fridays in Summer good employee discount (50%)

    Cons

No days off over xmas, (apart from Christmas, boxing day and new years day) even shutting for one day would be a good to show that our hard work during the year is appreciated. Only get 30 minute lunch break. This is not long enough, every other office i have ever worked in has always been an hour, for the amount of work we are expected to do, we need some kind of offering. very high turn over Promise of progression then that never happening, even when staff members leave. Pay is very low for what is expected Not really any good incentives or benefits apart from the standard vitality.

    Pros

employee discount 1-hour lunch, when worked a full day, (this varies depending on location as managers might only give you 30 min)

I worked at Mountain Warehouse part-time for more than a year

    Pros

They have a really good employee discount.

    Cons

Both in store management and the head office really need to get it together, they have a horrible impact on the environment, the members rewards card is stupid and the clothing often just falls apart.

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for your comments. It sounds like you really didn't enjoy your time with us, or our products, which is definitely a shame. We are a value retailer but we don't want our clothes to fall apart! Our quality control specialists and garment tech department would be very keen to hear from you if you wanted to get in touch. Whilst we don't always get it right first time, we do try. We are all really passionate about our business. Sometimes the business makes decisions or releases ideas that we don't necessarily agree with, or understand. Feeding back our frustrations with criticism and constructive ideas to change really do help us. To this end we are launching employee engagement forums across the brand, in all areas of the business with one of the 3 owners of the business leading the meetings. Thank you again for your comments, they really are helpful. Kind regards,

I worked at Mountain Warehouse part-time

    Pros

Good employee discount. Workplace environment is very dependent on the manager at the store.

    Cons

Always hired people who have more availability but don't have any solid social skills. Always confusion as to who to report to.

    May 20, 2019Head of HR

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for your comments, we really do read these and discuss all the feedback we receive. We know that teams work best when they have good management. We are looking to improve our management skills all the time. We have recently launched a Management and Leadership apprenticeship scheme for internal candidates and our L&D department is working on a Sales and Service training programme that will be rolled out across the entire brand. We hope that the combination of these two initiatives and the global employee engagement survey that we launched today will go a long way in allowing us to change things positively. Policies that need changing will be changed. Leaders who lack skills will be coached. Leaders who create excellence will be recognised. The amount of communication, upward and downward, will increase. Overall, Mountain Warehouse will be a better place to work. Thank you once again. Kind regards,

I worked at Mountain Warehouse part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The manager that hired me had built a diverse team of people that had experience, he was removed from the company and replaced by a manager that was not competent, he took this team and reduced it dust inside 6 months, I was one of the last two and I was signed off with depression. We were replaced by fashion sales people that didn't know or understand the items, my area manager didn't want to address any of the issues I had raised in my email to him until I was at work again, instead I quit. Employee discount was great, on the whole pay was prompt

    Cons

Add-On sales pressure, same add-ons 2 years after I left the company! No hours for seasonal staff, no transfer of contract from seasonal to permanent. Lack of promotional opportunities.

    May 20, 2019Head of HR

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to feedback to us. Our new HR team in Head Office has now been in post for nearly 6 months so while it sadly won't help you, we hope that it will help your colleagues in the future. We have a zero tolerance policy against racism, and discrimination or harassment for any protected characteristic. All allegations are investigated as we really do pride ourselves on being an inclusive business. Our policy on mental health is also improving. Hopefully you follow us on LinkedIn and can see some of the amazing work we have been doing with mental health first aid courses. We don't always get thins right, but we are trying. It's feedback like yours that allows us to look at our ways of working and change and amend things if they're not going well. Thank you again and good luck in all your future endeavours.
