    World class projects, amazing technology, brilliant people everywhere. So much to love. Make a difference, build amazing, create awesome and inspiring stuff that does amazing things. Work with and for passionate people who care immensely. Some projects are working with world class tools and equipment.

    Ragged, haggard buildings. Fractured contracts. Dysfunctional processes. Inept management. Bean counting decision making. Short sighted decisions with less than optimal results.     Advice to Management

    Too many technical decisions are made by non-technical management with disastrous results. You are shooting yourself in both feet. The contracts process is broken, fragmented, fractured, dysfunctional and ensures that JPL will not attain quality results from your process as contractors have their interests above the interests of JPL with sub par results.     Co-workers are very smart. Work on exciting projects. Clear trajectory upward.

    Cons

    Lots of red tape as to be expected. As a contractor, I do not get paid time off and I can't use the gym on the Lab. There are several things like that which remind you that you're not an employee.

    - Fantastic working environment, and you get to work on the coolest projects - Full-time engineers are a wealth of knowledge and are great resources - Opportunities to learn more about projects outside of your direct work - Engaging, challenging work that is directly important to JPL projects - Mentoring from senior engineers - Breakfast burritos

    Cons

    - Occasional slow pace of approvals/trainings/drawing releases - It's a long walk up/down the hill to the machine shop, if you can't get a golf cart
