I worked at Nando's UK & IRE full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Managers genuinely care for the team. Free meal on every shift. Regular team building days (where another restaurant will cover). Regular regionally planned nights out (especially good at Christmas when all stores close early) and all of the restaurants in the region go to a venue for a big party. Self-development is promoted. Staff discount.

    Cons

Being a supervisor was a difficult role, as you were receiving as fairly basic hourly wage, while taking on responsibilities that assistant managers would have. Stressful shifts at times (from a supervisory perspective). Late finishes - which vary restaurant-to-restaurant depending on closing times, etc. Can from 11pm-3am after the close-down was complete.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to support staff.

    Pros

They have a great training/step-up program, they really care about their employees and put staff needs first.

I have been working at Nando's UK & IRE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people are possibly the biggest perk of this job. You create lasting friendships with the people you work with. Benefits of the job include paid break and a free meal every shift. Between 3/4 regional parties with free drinks and travel for all staff Management wise, you can get up to £4000 bonus depending on restaurant performance, as well as trips abroad sometimes. If you're a 'nandos' person you can work... your way up quite easily, but the more people you know the better.

    Cons

It always seems unorganised... the same problems are still happening 3 years later. Understaffed on shift as the budgets won't allow for more staff. Long hours, a 12 hour shift is not unusual, and usually get out at 2:30 AM on a friday/saturday due to all the cleaning at the end of the shift. At times it can feel a little 'clique-y', in order to progress there must be a position available, so it depends who knows... who at times...

    Advice to Management

In terms of general manager in the restaurant, spend more time with your staff and management team. In terms of regional manager, really spend more time in your restaurants! Some staff don't know who their regional manager is.

I worked at Nando's UK & IRE full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Actually some of the people you meet are nice. You can move up in the business easily if you want to.

    Cons

The unsociable hours. The management team does not listen or takes care of its staff. The management team does not own up to its mistakes, knows how to give feedback or support. They always work with the mentality 'I am right, you are always wrong' The General Manager/ Patrao and most of the managers are not fair to the team-the favourites were to easy to spot.

    Advice to Management

Be fair. Listen to your staff. Don't encourage gossip, don't spread gossip and create a negative environment. Follow the right procedures, don't threaten the staff with a disciplinary action straight away. Actually live up to the Nando's values.

    Pros

Best family environment, best food, you are making family not just friend. I have a pleasure to work with Nandos for long.

    Cons

After long hours in the busy shift clean restaurant. Although, times you think that not worth the money. then you have e people around you that make a big difference. Like your family the cons become pros.

    Advice to Management

    Continue a good job

Long hours, can be ultra repetitive, lots of inner politics, needs to find its original roots.
