I worked at Navigant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

One of the best professional working environments I've ever worked. Opinions and skills were valued by my supervisors and subordinates. I was allowed to grow professionally and contribute to the growth of the organization.

    Cons

Often times over-utilized (too much work, not enough time). Which is a good problem to have - the extra work/demand was recognized in bonuses/promotions, etc.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more clearly to all staff strategic direction.

I worked at Navigant full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Small faction of smart, intelligent individuals who sell and execute interesting strategy projects. Very small faction. Decent downstream career opportunities - but this is more to do with consulting in general as opposed to Navigant specifically

    Cons

Trying to hard to be labelled as a big 4 consultancy without the brand, resources, or the vision. Growth strategy based on acquiring boutique strategy consulting firms and trying to force PMO type projects does not work, yet Navigant continues to do it. Besides the lack of vision or leadership, there are a plethora of issues that make working at Navigant a terrible experience: - Blatant nepotism - Unclear growth...

    Advice to Management

Figure out who you are. Trying to get a group of people who want to do strategy and forcing them to do project management (or vice versa) won't work. Make a call on the work you want to do and recruit people accordingly, so people will actually be doing the job that was described to them in their interviews. And pay people more. Seriously.

I worked at Navigant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Offices in nice buildings Private offices for managers and above Nice selection of treats for break Generous PTO Great leaders who are empathetic

    Cons

On call 24/7 Responsive to clients regardless of impact on staff (as are MOST professional service firms) Not a lot of opportunity in that staff are competing with management to sell the same services to the same potential clients A complete focus on billable hours can cause some bad behavior by staff All revenue generated by Associate Directors is allocated to the production of the supervising director (provides...

I worked at Navigant full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Strong female senior leadership which I found to be rare in corporate America and even rarer in consulting. Enjoyed my time there.

    Cons

No cons really other than lack of racial diversity among senior leadership. But that’s consulting for you. May have been limited to health care sector.

I worked at Navigant full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I worked at Navigant for almost five years, Navigant has a lot of good people who are smart, motivated, fun, and dedicated to delivering excellent work. The company also implemented more flexibility for employees (flex-time, option to work remotely). Great opportunities and exposure to high profile clients if you are capable. My boss was supportive and a great mentor. The CEO visits offices and personally thank her employees.

    Cons

Growing pain- middle management has to maintain utilization while training junior staff on or outside projects with tight timeline and budget leading to some overworked managing consultants and associate directors.

    Advice to Management

Give more support/internal budget to project work training
