I worked at Navigant full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

People were overall very focused on the culture at Navigant. Leadership was very involved in mentoring junior staff. Work life balance is possible with effective management. I loved the people I worked with - only reason I am giving it 4 stars.

    Cons

We were acquired by Guidehouse before I left and there was a lot of challenges that were not effectively addressed. Most employees felt that leadership took a big payday at our expense. A lot of high performers left. Significantly underpaid and challenges negotiating compensation up to market levels. Overall feeling of it being a “boys club” and lack of strong women leaders in Healthcare. Promotion tracks are inconsistent with work experience. Hiring practices focus on “top tier” schools when many of our top performers come from state schools.

I worked at Navigant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some great people worked there. Most have moved on.

    Cons

A year or so after I joined, top brass decided they had to make the numbers work for their bonuses. They outsourced everything they could to an Indian firm that was bottom of the barrel.

I worked at Navigant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people at Navigant are typically very nice, willing to share information and knowledge. The work is very interesting and challenging and the travel opportunities can be very exciting.

    Cons

Co-workers can be cut throat and back stabbing. The hours are long (24 to 36 hours).

I have been working at Navigant full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Depending on the practice and business unit, there is some flexibility in travel requirements and project assignments.

    Cons

They state they value diversity, however if you look across the company, and particularly in the Healthcare practice, senior level persons are majority white and male. They also state they offer good work-life balance, but the expectation is very different and there really is no "off" time. Vacation time for managing consultants and higher just went to discretionary time off vs. set vacation time. While this sounds appealing to some, it is really more restrictive at manager discretion, a way for the company to save money, and is taking away a potential payout benefit (unless you work in CA).

I worked at Navigant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

One of the best professional working environments I've ever worked. Opinions and skills were valued by my supervisors and subordinates. I was allowed to grow professionally and contribute to the growth of the organization.

    Cons

Often times over-utilized (too much work, not enough time). Which is a good problem to have - the extra work/demand was recognized in bonuses/promotions, etc.

I worked at Navigant full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Small faction of smart, intelligent individuals who sell and execute interesting strategy projects. Very small faction. Decent downstream career opportunities - but this is more to do with consulting in general as opposed to Navigant specifically

    Cons

Trying to hard to be labelled as a big 4 consultancy without the brand, resources, or the vision. Growth strategy based on acquiring boutique strategy consulting firms and trying to force PMO type projects does not work, yet Navigant continues to do it. Besides the lack of vision or leadership, there are a plethora of issues that make working at Navigant a terrible experience: - Blatant nepotism - Unclear growth trajectory - Poor and uncompetitive base pay - Non-existent bonus - Uninteresting projects - Poor recruitment process, leading to: - High turnover - Constant staffing struggles - Low quality junior staff - Micromanagement - General aura of misery, stemming from the fact that everyone is miserable
