I worked at Navigant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people at Navigant are typically very nice, willing to share information and knowledge. The work is very interesting and challenging and the travel opportunities can be very exciting.

    Cons

Co-workers can be cut throat and back stabbing. The hours are long (24 to 36 hours).

    Advice to Management

Management can make or destroy a job, staff and work environment.

I have been working at Navigant full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Depending on the practice and business unit, there is some flexibility in travel requirements and project assignments.

    Cons

They state they value diversity, however if you look across the company, and particularly in the Healthcare practice, senior level persons are majority white and male. They also state they offer good work-life balance, but the expectation is very different and there really is no "off" time. Vacation time for managing consultants and higher just went to discretionary time off vs. set vacation time. While this... sounds appealing to some, it is really more restrictive at manager discretion, a way for the company to save money, and is taking away a potential payout benefit (unless you work in CA).

I have been working at Navigant full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The management team finally figured out what we all knew, this company was not a going concern, and had to sell off.

    Cons

Unfortunately, this means the company will be a part of IBM, NTT, or some other company that no one wants to work. The market facing team is in the process of leaving, massive departures already, more to come. The company will be a shell of itself in 12 months when it is sold to NTT data.

    Advice to Management

You did what you could, sold it off, since you had no idea how to manage a consulting firm

I have been working at Navigant full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Navigant is genuinely striving to improve the human experience or is people. It has regular challenges like all firms but the strategic direction, leadership team and reputation in the market are all solid. They are investing in learning and training and better meeting the needs of employees are being improved. There is a genuine sense of teamwork and collaboration across the firm. You have to make your mark, like... in any consultancy, and need to have agility, persistence, and the smarts to succeed.

    Cons

Company is organized and a OK siloed within the different business segments. This muddles company messaging, and internal programs around culture, values and diversity. Everyone does their own thing... Many great things but it loses the one-firm feel. They're working on this but more to do.

    Advice to Management

Be visible, communicate more often, especially around or stay and people initiatives, and continue to work toward a more unified Navigant.

I worked at Navigant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

One of the best professional working environments I've ever worked. Opinions and skills were valued by my supervisors and subordinates. I was allowed to grow professionally and contribute to the growth of the organization.

    Cons

Often times over-utilized (too much work, not enough time). Which is a good problem to have - the extra work/demand was recognized in bonuses/promotions, etc.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more clearly to all staff strategic direction.
