I worked at Navigant full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great company to have exposure to Directors and Managing directors. You'll have exposure to top level management with Medium size consumer finance companies. It is an elite boutique firm for Consumer Finance clients. Since it is a medium size company you will gain responsibility early on and will gain experience in different roles and projects.

    Cons

Do not have a big name outside their niche (Consumer Finance and Insurance), which I think is unfortunate because their team and work is top notch! A big part of their business comes from compliance projects, which could be against you if you want to move to other areas of financial consulting. Bonus based on utilization. When the business activity is low you could still work long hours on proposals and still get a

    Negative Outlook

    I worked at Navigant full-time

    Pros

Nice offices and facilities. Free Diet Coke. Good company benefits Decent and hard working colleagues who will often pitch in to help peers who are working non desirable hours and to assist complex cases. Opportunities to travel to some interesting countries and work on varied projects.

    Cons

High turnover of staff. Bullying goes unaddressed, even when reported to Senior Management. Very little training or development. “Junior” members of the team are expected to regularly work long hours, weekends, and public holidays to ensure ridiculous deadlines are achieved and receive very little appreciation or respect. Project managers are afraid of “pushing back” and are just “Yes Men”. Very little... Consulting. Management are reactive as opposed to proactive. No team morale. Toxic atmosphere. Terrible blame culture. Project Managers look to pan the blame on those at lower levels instead of taking responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Start treating employees better. Respect goes both ways. Address the toxic atmosphere and look for ways to create and improve team morale. Stop the constant trashing of certain employees which is regularly heard on the office floor. Get rid of the blame culture which only promotes the negativity and toxic atmosphere.

    Pros

Successful company on a stable growth trajectory. Recent culture initiatives have really embraced the current needs of employees. Competitive salary. Good management team.

    Cons

It is consulting and thus a service industry, which can result in long hours and high stress. Career progression requires self advocacy and having the right relationships internally in addition to being a high performer.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on the importance of talent development and continuous development

I have been working at Navigant full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Work with C-Suite executives for to Hospitals and Health Systems in the country. Variety of solution offerings. Colleagues and leadership are industry leaders. Just became a billion $ company. While competitors are struggling, NCI is on the up.

    Cons

It's consulting. So 80 hour weeks happen. If you don't like long hours or being on the road (i.e., travel), you should think about another profession outside of consulting...
