I can succeed as my authentic self!
1 Feb 2023 - Associate Manager Manufacturing Excellence in Batavia, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Overall, I feel like Purina really cares about me as an individual. I'm consistently encouraged to take care of physical and mental safety/wellbeing and I feel like I'm a valuable part of the team as my authentic self. The challenging growth opportunities I've had so far show me that my leaders are not only listening to my goals and recognizing my skillset, but also that they are advocating for me and my development. I've had the support I need to get outside my comfort zone, and I know I've grown significantly (personally and professionally) as a result! It's very energizing and inspiring to work with my current teammates. Not only does it feel great to be a part of such a high-performing, passionate team, but the diversity in our team in all dimensions (experience, race, gender, etc.) means I am surrounded by mentors and role models, and I am constantly learning from my peers. One of the things I found most surprising and refreshing is that I truly do trust senior leaders within the organization to act with integrity, humility, and empathy. They don't just "talk the talk" when it comes to valuing and prioritizing people, and the messaging is consistent: we do the right thing, even if it's hard. I'm also very passionate about what Purina does! With previous companies, I haven't felt that same connection, and it can be disheartening and uninspiring. As a pet-owner myself, the fact that I can be a part of providing high-quality products to my own furry family members, and that I've seen the positive impact our products have on their lives, makes me feel like I'm part of something important and profound.
Cons
Because Purina is a high-performing organization, the expectations are high, which means it's often a high-pressure environment as well. Though it can be exciting, those high expectations paired with the company's growth can be stressful at times. Manufacturing is a tough industry in general, and Purina isn't immune to the occasional long hours, early mornings, late nights, etc. seen across the industry.
What a great review! We appreciate all your points here, from associates’ wellbeing and growth opportunities to our continuous Diversity, Equity & Inclusion efforts, you have covered our passions. Because of employees like you, and many others, we continue to advance and innovate to ensure we are a leader in the CPG industry, and always keep authenticity top of mind.

With a big company it's all about the team you land on
29 Mar 2023 - ORM Associate in Saint Louis, MORecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you are able to avoid the ORM department I would suggest it. Just received a department pay increase, which was long overdue. The coworkers are great!
Cons
It's an ok entry-level job but hard to break into other departments. Other departments allow more flexibility and show appreciation to their associates. Definitely work more than 40 hours to be able to complete all tasks.

Here you're a person first, employee second
16 Feb 2023 - Associate Manager in Batavia, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-Fabulous benefits - they continuously update their offerings and come out with new generous benefits that the associates actually want (tuition reimbursement, mental wellbeing, gym discounts, and a lifestyle spending account) - People who genuinely just want to do good work; if you're motivated to succeed then they will give you any and all resources you need and help you grow where you want to be - Large network of resources from Purina and Nestle, but still feel like you can make an impact as one individual / one team - Fast growth opportunities (if willing to put in effort & show success)
Cons
Opportunity to relocate to other factories to help advance promotion path which is great (and very well compensated) but can be hard to readjust socially outside of work when moving frequently. This has been a higher priority for the local leadership team, though, and I have seen it getting a lot better!

It’s great to hear from our Williamsburg Township team! We’re proud of the robust benefits we offer because you’re right, we’re invested in our associates’ wellbeing and continued growth. Thank you for the point you highlighted about relocation. While it opens a national network of opportunities, it can be challenging to acclimate to this sudden change. We offer relocation assistance to help alleviate some of the stress of moving so that you can focus on adjusting to your new surroundings. We’re glad to hear the leadership in Williamsburg Township is aware of this and has made this a priority. No matter where our associates relocate to, our factory teams are always willing to help you with the move and will provide suggestions on things to do in the area. Please continue to lean on your colleagues.

Worst place I ever worked
16 Mar 2023 - Team Leader in Edmond, OKRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
It was salary non-exempt so supervisors were paid overtime. So if you work sixty to seventy hours a week you might come close to what you can make for forty hours elsewhere.
Cons
Constantly lied to. Senior management constantly through the front line supervisors under the bus. Promised shift differentials in writing and never actually got it. All that mattered was "tons" (production level). Quality was an absolute backseat if considered at all. The filth of the operation is absolutely disgusting. Within a week I could no longer feed that stuff to my dogs because I had seen too much. Culturally it was a nightmare and their benefits were among the worst I've ever had. There's no work life balance and no serious effort toward actual diversity.

This is disappointing to hear, as safety and quality are core values of our processes and always come before production. We empower our leaders to run their shifts with these values in mind and lead their teams to do the same. We understand that shift schedules can be challenging and are always looking for new ways of working to improve the lives of our associates. However, we encourage our employees to use their benefits including PTO, full health benefits, and financial and mental wellbeing resources to support their wellbeing in and outside of the workplace. We’d be interested in hearing more about your experience with leadership. Please reach out to Joe the Factory Manager or Katie the Divisional HR Manager with more information.

Good pay and benefits/poor diversity & growth
20 Mar 2023 - Accounting AnalystRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
They pay well and provide a good benefits package, and you can bring your pet to campus.
Cons
In finance there is a lot of bureaucracy. There's no real road map for training, development, or support. They talk a lot about diversity, but there is virtually none in management despite being located in St Louis for 150 years.

Ongoing learning opportunities are consistently top of mind for our associates. We aim to develop solid processes within our departments, as well as robust training opportunities. While it seems you may not have experienced that, we hope you were able to expand your knowledge during your time with us.

Pros
The benefits are great, the pet food discount is wonderful, and I really love the lifestyle spending account and brining my dogs to work.
Cons
There are SOME amazing people, however it’s mostly a popularity contest and if you don’t fit in you are excluded and made very aware of the fact that you’re not in the inner circle for your department. They are trying to be inclusive but most of the staff are out of touch privileged people, especially the leaders. I once saw a group on a tour with new employees and they had two older people taking several flights of stairs with no regard for the fact that it may not have been easy for them. One guy was lagging behind and I had to point him in the direction of where to go. Overall I’ve seen they are not disability friendly, and may even be bordering on ageism. It’s unfortunate that the younger crowd can make even the middle age folks feel like they have no place on the team. If you don’t like kissing butt you won’t get too far. Also the way they pushed older people out this year was ridiculous! They did it to avoid paying larger salaries. It’s disappointing to watch it happen.

It’s disappointing to hear the cons you listed. We do not tolerate any sort of favoritism or ageism within our departments. Our recruitment process is confidential, allowing for anonymity for candidates to ensure an unbiased experience and hiring efforts. If you would like to learn more about our process, please visit: https://www.nestlejobs.com/nestle-purina/our-recruiting-process. Our organization leaders also communicate clear and realistic expectations with supervisors, all while ensuring that department goals are held in a team effort. We encourage you to conduct a conversation with your immediate supervisor to voice these concerns.

Micro Management Gone Wild
5 Mar 2023 - Fork Lift Operator in Allentown, PARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Vending machine gives out nice pens.
Cons
Management in the mixing center has decided to micro manage every unaccounted minute that goes by. If you use the bathroom alittle bit to long or eat while on a unaccounted break, they want answers for your lack of work ethic. Meanwhile you are given a productivity time which you have to accomplish. If you stay within that boundary and exceed your required productivity time management still gives you a hard time. Pay is no longer a great benefit bc many companies are within the same pay scale as nestle. Vacation hours are now dictated by management on how it can be used. I'm sure h.r. or somebody will give thier rebuttal but other reviews from many employees have stated thier discontent with what nestle purina has become within the last few years. BTW the teamsters business agent seems to be in thier pocket and sides with the company and not with their union brothers.

Cons

Purina has changed with return to work
9 Mar 2023 - Senior Email Marketing SpecialistRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Purina truly cares about their employees, compensation is above the norm and the people they hire all work well together.
Cons
Return to work 4 days a week has been difficult especially when HR and senior management is using employee badge scans to monitor. The difficulty is that they are hiring remote employees but being strict with local employees on being in the office 4 days. They have to hire remote now because that's where the workforce is going and it's hard for them to retain and recruit without.

Pros
Good paying job. Hood hourly wage
Cons
Long hours. Could be 8 or 12 . Six days a week
