I worked at NetApp full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good workplace. Free Snacks every evening 6 PM. Unlimited Free Beers every Friday. Excellent new Campus

    Cons

Managers are very worst especially the level 1 managers they do the full favor to the one who butters them well. Frist line (L1) managers in support are not even fit for their job, they are biased and have lacked in leadership quality. So many good guys left because of their managers.

    Advice to Management

Please conduct the skip level meetings for the managers and get the true feedback from their direct reportees and imminently take the necessary action against the culprits. Ask the HR to keep their eys, ear open and work independently and listen to the employee not the the Managers.

    Pros

It is a Great place to work. It offers very attractive and competitive salaries. It has great facilities for it's employees.

    Cons

Though the company provides so many benefits, it's been through tough times forcing the company to carry out massive layoffs every year.

    Advice to Management

My advice to the management would be to try and retain talented employees, especially those who have been with the company through the tough times.

    Pros

Technical good products, but that's about it.

    Cons

No teamwork, with the exception of some colleagues, everybody is only busy with personal interests above company interests. Management and HR do not shy away from discrimination, bullying, intimidation.

    Advice to Management

Follow the others and all move to Palo Alto Networks.

I worked at NetApp full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Excellent benefits. Good product with lots of potential. Probably still a decent place to work if you aren't in support.

    Cons

Working in support used to be a great place. You had time to follow up and work with customers, and they weren't focused on Metrics. They shifted the focus to Metrics and after laying off about half the support center and the workload was unchanged. Instead of focusing on solving problems you were just fighting fires. Lots of tools available to do the job, but many of them have a lot of use ability issues....

    Advice to Management

Managers should NOT be remote to their staff if it can be helped. I had 4 different managers in 3 years. 2 local, 2 remote. It was always better with a local manager. Work on actually balancing the workload across the teams and sites. Continue to make the organization more flat by removing layers of bureaucracy and focus on listening to your front line workers. Seriously, listen to the support team directly.
