- Not a good place to start off your career. - Most of the time is involved in bug fix. Very less development - Too much of work life balance leads to laziness in employees - New joinees are almost treated as newbies and not given any responsibilities leading to sense of complacency in them - Higher management not proactive and lacking innovation in products - Most importantly, frequent layoffs/reorgs created a sense of insecurity in the employees

Pros

You live the NetApp culture everyday, you count on others and others count on you. It's a very open environment where you have access to everybody -- colleagues, managers, execs. You get to do real product engineering work, some of these are architected and designed from the ground up (Ver. 1.0). Lots of top notch engineers and smart people all around you, most days you wake up feeling good and fired up to make a difference.

Cons

Hard to maintain a work-life balance, lots of conf calls that eat into your mornings and/or evenings. Comp and benefits are about average or maybe slightly better, but nothing to write home about.

Pros

Office culture is good: a sense of mutual respect is there. Flexible timings and less formality in interaction with manager. Work from home option also adds to flexible work schedule. Offers some facility in Employee health care.

Cons

Package is not competitive at all. Moreover Micro managing has also started. Work life balance actually depends on group and manager. NetApp has good technical talent but lacks good managerial talent. Growth is not as used to be 3-4 years before.

Great culture & environment to work, initiative to work and carry out projects, top level management is great, great clarity and communication between senior managements and employees, employee friendly and great place to work at.

Support is rotational shift and often hampers work-life balance, Mid level managers have issues of favouritism, line of work progress is sometimes ambiguous, strictly process oriented and hampers self initiative and new ideas sometimes.
