      Opportunity but Politics

      Pros

You can create your own destiny by working your customer base and increasing your commissions. Not as easy as it sounds, but a great fit for the natural salesperson. Nice atmosphere on the floor- bright, clean, positive , music.

      Cons

Politics can get ugly. The way the commission rubric is designed, often you’re competing for customers. Creates discord. Stay in your lame, keep smiling and grow your customer base. Stay out of gossip. It’s rampant there. Also, return policy needs to be dismantled, at least when it comes out of your commission. Somehow the base pay needs to be higher, or returns not so easy for customers. It breeds competition, frustration and is unfair. A salesperson might spend a day helping a customer, only to have it returned and taken out of your pay. Now you’re back to zero again and have to expend the same energy all Over again to get to where you were at the beginning of the day. It’s an endless cycle and needs to be fixed

      The worst job ever

      Pros

Discounts on purchases and the soup at the cafe

      Cons

Our manager had swine flu. They wouldn’t tell us what was going on, just wiped our station down. She went into a coma from it. Our manager was vindictive and would make you work double-backs if she didn’t like you. You were expected to confront shoplifters who were some scary people. Co-workers would try to steal commissions. If you weren’t “selling” enough, they would take you into a little room and threaten you. Customers were very entitled and would get angry if you didn’t ditch the person you were waiting on to wait on them. Customers would argue with each other at the counter. They would leave the store open and make everyone in the building stay if one family with screaming kids decided to shop for shoes from 5 minutes before closing until the wee hours. Really, these customers were just bad parents whose tiny tots should have been in bed hours before but we were all made to suffer and stay until all hours. Due to the extremely long hours, I didn’t see friends for months and my family began to forget what I looked like. Oh and they take your pay away if someone returns something!

      Pros

      - discount although everything is overpriced - you can come into work in style - salary slightly above minimum wage

      Cons

      - commission based salary: if you don't make the target goal for the pay period your paycheck will reflect on it. especially during covid no one is coming to the store. even worse when a customer returns an item you've sold so now you have to sell more. - managers not being managers - poor management - security isnt tight

      Great place to work

      Pros

      - commission was great for seasonal salesman - can meet beyond minimum pay they offer pretty easily (especially during sales period) - great work environment - cooperative, well structured and supportive management - most of the salesmen and saleswomen don't "shark" sales from you (i had only one person do this to me once)

      Cons

      - if a customer returns a product, it docks your commission (understandably but just beware)
