No Idea How they continue to make the best companies to work for list year after year...someone must be paying them off.

Good Products and the company does do a lot for people with diabetes
Cons
So much drama, politics, harassment, poor management, inconsistent behavior and just an all around terrible place to work. The left hand never knows what the right hand is doing. The don't know how to treat people and lower level management is out running rampant with their gross abuse of power. For many people (myself being one of them) that worked for this company for a number of years and was hired back when it still had a family feel and they wanted to help you promote and do your best, to watch it change so dramatically and try to become "big pharma" with little regard for the people out there pounding the pavement everyday, it truly is sad. They constantly bombard you with busy work, metrics that are ridiculous, pointless and usually unattainable. It is a joke to most of the employees that somehow Novo Nordisk continues to rank on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For. We used to all laugh and say if they only knew how unhappy people really are and how bad things are behind the scenes. The opportunities for advancement are few and far between. everything is based on politics. The way they run things is completely skewed and backwards. The salaries aren't great starting out and it isn't easy to make your bonus.

Amazing company

You know you work at a great company, when you are given the freedom and resources needed with the responsibility of owning up to your mistakes. Freat colleagues willing to share experiences and noone I wouldn't enjoy talking to at a party.
Cons
Sometimes priorities change a bit fast, as is the nature in big pharma.

Pros
Benefits are great and include child care for field reps who need to work conventions, dinner programs etc.
Cons
Has turned slowly into big pharma and backstabbing mentality. Most everyone is feeling uncertain about their future and distrustful of each other

Not what it seems to the outside
18 Apr 2014 - Anonymous Employee in Princeton, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
good salaries and benefits; people really want to make a difference
Cons
changing culture from the "old Novo" to big pharma; everything is "roi"- the patient focus is being lost; long period of growth may be coming to an end and freaking people out; lots of hanky panky with senior male managers and female direct reports makes for unsettling work environment.

Good company, not so great management.
13 Nov 2014 - Pharmaceutical Sales Representative SpecialtyRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The company culture and benefits are awesome. Strong products and pipeline. Overall great co-workers.
Cons
Too many reps per territory Some managers will move up the ladder at all costs, Mainly the reps that work for them. Becoming too much like big pharma. It's all about the metrics now. Lot's of politics and back stabbing. Too much focus on meaningless metrics.

Great Company to work for with great benefits, slowly growing into more of a big pharmaceutical firm though.
27 Apr 2010 - Sales RepresentativeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great benefits, company supports disease state, generous vacation package, good products and support from the home office.
Cons
Not much career advancement opportunities for reps and promotions are solely based on numbers only. Slowly becoming 'big pharma' with administrative tasks. If you are in a state with poor access or managed care status the company refuses to recognize differences and insist on parity with other areas.

Good future outlook
29 May 2014 - Pharmaceutical Sales Representative Specialty in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
While most pharma companies are shrinking, it continues to expand. More than 5 yrs of double digit growth. A healthy pipeline of products and product extensions.
Cons
The culture and working environment depends on the region or district you belong. It's becoming more like big pharma operationally and strategically. Like most pharma a lot more focus on numbers - sales, calls, attendees etc, that may not necessarily equate to effectiveness and quality. Differing interpretation of assessment guidelines for employee performance between managers, RBDs.
