I have been working at OCUS

    Pros

There is no pros about this company!

    Cons

They send me a contract to sign in my dashboard section. After I submitted it, I can no longer log in to my account on their website, because the page is not found. If you call the NY phone number, a robot says that the application failed, and close up the phone call.

I worked at OCUS for less than a year

    Pros

You select your jobs, on a map which is great - Something other companies need to implement.

    Cons

Email responses would take 2-3 weeks, and any issue would never get resolved until chasing them up multiple times. They took months to pay one of my invoices, after chasing them up over and over again for months. The management at Ocus would keep lying to me, saying the payment for invoice has been processed, when it was not, they literally had no clue what was going on. After I complained, they unlawfully suspended my account to get rid of me, instead of helping me and paying me on time. One of the new management members at Ocus would complain about their job, instead of completing their tasks. I do not understand how they are surviving, or how this company exists with such poor customer service, training, management and unlawful attitude towards professional photographers, who are the ones making them money from every photoshoot completed. Another issue is the low price per photoshoot, they are the lowest in the entire industry, that's probably how they got the deal with UberEats who are Ocus's main partner. The last factor I'd like to bring up, the editors ruin the hard work of all the photographers! The editors completely ruin each photograph! I've even had meetings with UberEats Territorial Managers who accompany photoshoots sometimes, and they said they personally edit the images themselves after receiving them from Ocus!! Can you believe that?! If you're thinking of joining Ocus, do not, because you deserve much better!

I have been working at OCUS for less than a year

    Pros

Good flexibility and fits into any freelancers general shooting pattern nicely. The online platform is solid and completed jobs are accepted pretty swiftly.

    Cons

COmmunication with photographers can vary. Difficult getting an answer from anyone when you have a query but when they want something from you it's direct phonecalls and emails galore (there is seemingly no phone number anywhere to be found for this company and the number they call you with is seemingly only one way). Payments to freelancers need to be regulated and managed FAR better. I've had to change the account my payments go to due to various international transaction charges from my bank because OCUS refuse to absorb them before sending payments. Not fair and was never explained to me.

I have been working at OCUS for less than a year

    Pros

Easy to signup Did 10 shoots in 2 months here in Melbourne Marketing team did a good job

    Cons

Out of 10 shoots, I got paid only for 2 shoots over the span of 4 months. I am still not paid for 8 shoots and the accounts team is coming up with innovative excuses for the delay in payment. I am sick of followuping up and disappointed that I am still not paid for so long.

    Cons

communications between the agency-client-photog can be improved, looking at it from photog point of view

I have been working at OCUS for less than a year

    Pros

It's an easy way of booking jobs if you're self employed. The system can work well and they do have clear instructions about expectations. However, often the expectations are unrealistic and there's little opportunity to express your concerns

    Cons

At the moment the only way OCUS can pay contractors in Australia is via PayPal. They do not communicate well once the work is done and they have received their services. If I'm contracted locally I have the ability to secure a percentage of the total fee before the work is done. This is to ensure I still get paid for expenses leading up to a cancelled job. OCUS on the other hand, have their own overly complicated payment system. I won't explain it but essentially you can expect to wait up to 3 months before you're paid from the time you finished the job. Be very cautious before accepting jobs through OCUS! They have paid invoices for the first 2 jobs then communication dried up and they stopped paying invoices. They build up trust so you give them more time and before you know it you're chasing invoices that are 3 or 4 months old. BEWARE!
