Work life balance. Good work culture
Cons
HR management is not upto the mark. Don't have lot of benefit for employee.
Continue readingThank you very much for your feedback – we take pride in the OEC culture we’ve developed, and it is good to hear you have had a positive experience. Please note that we continuously review our compensation offerings including salaries, benefits and bonus structures. I appreciate your feedback around employee benefits. We will continue to look at benefits benchmarking data and work to enhance our employee benefits offerings accordingly. The entire world has been saddened by the difficulties India has experienced as a result of the second wave of the COVID pandemic. The OEC Leadership Team is no exception. To help our employees in our Chennai office manage through these difficulties, OEC provided financial support for vaccinations for employees and family members and enhanced telehealth services. We are encouraged by somewhat improving conditions in India but will continue to monitor the situation there and in other areas of the world and do all we can to support our employees. CTO only cares for herself and her ambitions
18 Feb 2015 - Associate Manager in Richfield, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The best thing about working here is the relaxed culture. Work life balance is great. Flexible working arrangements and making the employees feel appreciated. Appreciation is something a lot of companies take for granted. Benefits and vacation package is very good. Company activities are very appreciated by members and families.
Cons
Senior Management can be out of touch. They say open doors. Challenge everything. But in reality - you know! Agile Methodology is good, but the main scrum master left (even though he was appreciated). Most IT people feel that if CTO focused more in the company and not on her career, bring smarter people than her and avoid her loud laughter and small talk and BS it would do the team good.

A good experience
14 Nov 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Cleveland, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Best group of people I've ever worked with. Hands down. - Solid benefits (PTO specifically) and the work/life balance was great. - Growth opportunities IF you put in the work. - Development and training opportunities IF you researched them and pursued them.
Cons
- lack of shared tribal knowledge was a concern. - lack of communication made things harder than they needed to be. - members of the organization that had bad attitudes and were critical of every decision made were a challenge. Lack of individual accountability played into this.

Good company but tend to not pay competitively
22 Apr 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Richfield, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good work/life balance, good benefits, 401K match up to 4%, a small percentage of profit sharing (nice, but nothing to get too excited about), tuition reimbursement, onsite fitness center, onsite cafeteria, flex-schedules, 4 weeks of PTO on day one. The people are great and it's a solid culture. They do fun themed days and events for employees and their families which is nice. It's a very family oriented company.
Cons
If you've been there a long time expect to see your pay start to slip in comparison to your market median. HR doesn't make sure that employee's salaries are reasonable, typically won't be addressed unless the employee or their manager makes a stink. A lot of people eventually leave because they start to lose money by staying.

False culture, not much room for growth.
12 Oct 2017 - Anonymous Employee in Richfield, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
4 weeks of PTO which you can "borrow" from at anytime during the year to use. 401K with matching. Gym on-site, health and fitness incentives as well. Standard Mon-Fri office hours, having weekends off depending on your department, is a good work-life balance.
Cons
Upward movement and growth depends on your direct supervisor and how much they like you, it is still your standard culture of "if the manager doesn't like you, it doesn't matter how hard you work, you won't get promoted". Workload can be extremely imbalanced depending on the team, and you can be one of the newer hires, but are expected to do more than the seasoned and more senior employees within your department. Should you express concern regarding your workload, your supervisor may not react favorably nor will they be willing to listen to your concerns and reasons for being worried. Sexual harassment is still very much a thing that needs to be addressed within the company. HR is more than willing to listen to your concerns and fears, but depending on the managers/supervisors, even if they agree that what you are saying is valid and true, oftentimes, nothing will be done to change the situation.

President and CFO
Career growth is an important part of associate satisfaction and engagement so I certainly appreciate your feedback. We will continue to work on ways to create additional career paths and opportunities for top performers at OEC. I am especially concerned by your feedback that ‘sexual harassment is still very much a thing that needs addressed’ at OEC. As a current associate I encourage you to bring any concerns to the attention of management and HR. In my 17 years with OEC, we have consistently operated with a zero tolerance approach as it relates to this issue. We won’t tolerate harassment of any kind. Since 2005 we have provided training for managers and associates on this topic every 18 months and have addressed any known issues swiftly and consistently. Thank you again for your feedback; I hope we have the opportunity to speak with you further in the near future. – Ron Coill, President & CFO, OEC.

Great Company and Getting Better
12 Sept 2016 - Anonymous Employee in Richfield, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Senior Leadership is committed to making OEC a great place to work and there are many initiatives underway to address some of the issues being raised by employees. There is a focus on work-life balance and providing employees what they need to get their job done. The culture is one of collaboration with people focused on doing the right thing for the business. The people are great to work with and the company provides activities and perks to make work enjoyable. The organization truly cares about it employees!
Cons
The company moves very quickly and sometimes could benefit from slowing down.

OK place to work
21 Sept 2016 - Engineer of Sorts in Richfield, OHRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There is a laid back atmosphere here, it's pretty nice. They offer to buy books related to your job, once a quarter, which is great. They are open to training, i.e. sending people to 5 day IT conferences or a training class. They seem to care about their impact on the environment but do not have dedicated people for that area. Instead, several employees participate on their environmental team in their free time (inside of work hours). I was started with 4 weeks of vacation and I use them! They are expanding the building to accommodate more growth. They encourage employees to participate in local tech opportunities, in a thinly veiled effort to market OEC as a competent player in the Cleveland tech market. I guess there's nothing wrong with that, which is why it's in the Pros column. However, there is much work to do, see the Cons. The office culture can be fun and energetic at times. There does seem to be a variety of different career opportunities within OEC, especially for those who are new to their field. There are engaging activities that bring fun into the workplace (i.e. design your own putt putt hole). Work life balance is fine. I work in IT so I certainly expect to perform maintenance after hours, but it is not excessive at OEC.
Cons
Many projects have unrealistic completion dates. Every IT project I've seen has taken far longer to complete, due to mismanagement of resources (including people) and a general sloppiness in execution. In many ways, their methods of performing certain tasks or daily processes reminds me of IT in the 90's: cobbled together with a minimal amount of customizations just "good enough"....and why? "because we've always done it that way" and, "it's still working, why change it?" Grrrr. So many, many single points of failure. And always a constant fear of the unknown (i.e. new tech, implementing new features , etc). Depending on the case, this either shows a lack of experience or the inability to test the new technology like other companies would. I suspect that OEC pays less than market salary for most IT positions, as I have heard others complain; however I am happy with my salary. It's clear that some employees are favorites with Sr Management. Not sure why. The IT teams are heavily fragmented and the lines for responsibilities are often blurry; you may need to work with several teams to accomplish a specific task that, in other companies about the same size could be done in a week with proper maintenance windows. There is an abundance of duplication, both in terms of personnel duties (jobs overlapping) and infrastructure (i.e. numerous storage arrays when one array would suffice). The general lack of foresight and planning in IT is appalling. It is hard to describe the miracles the business expects IT to do, but without the budget to support them. Numerous projects have been carried over year to year due to lack of money. I've heard they still backup to tapes, again another throwback to the 90s.
