Pros

- By far the biggest pro is the people. The team is young, fun and talented. - Otrium is a great concept and is well received by brands. There is potential for it to become a global success very soon. - The team is spread throughout Europe, UK and US which makes for exciting opportunities for people with international ambitions. - Very inclusive culture, and a lot of nice diversity initiatives taking place internally.

Cons

- Growth is prioritised over all else (even the wellbeing and engagement of employees) and people quickly become overwhelmed and stressed out. - The targets are set very high to encourage over-performance. You are only well compensated if you over-achieve (hitting target is not enough). - Each department has their own targets, which often don't align with other departments. These leads to a culture of "every man for himself" instead of healthy collaboration between different teams. - Processes are breaking down due to the extreme rate of growth. - Communication is a huge fall down in the company, partially due because Otrium is a remote company. The manic Slack culture often leads to people becoming irritated and short with each other, instead of having professional conversations. - Burn out is frequent and handled casually. It is difficult to get personal support from management.

Thank you for your honest review. We’re really glad to hear that you find our culture radically inclusive which is what we aim for as we continue to scale Otrium to new heights. Certainly, growth is a success factor for us, but certainly not the only priority. We hear you on the need to improve communications as we embrace “HQ In The Cloud” and we are working on communication guidelines to emphasize quality over quantity with communication. As you know, we’ve just launched our values and we are really excited to embed these throughout our Otrium journey! We’d love to hear any additional feedback you have around how we can improve the onboarding process and overall employee experience. Feel free to reach out to the People team.

Going bad

Pros

Work/Life balance is really good. Management tries to be as transparent as they can. You can feel that you are part of the job

Cons

Last year they messed up their business management and failed to set a clear roadmap. The stress was felt by everyone. There was a massive layoff and many people left their jobs. There is huge uncertainty within the company.

Dear O-lumni member, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're glad you appreciated the work-life balance, that you felt part of the company, and that you recognize the focus on transparency. The last year has, just like for many other young companies, been very challenging. As part thereof, we had to make very difficult decisions in the beginning of the year that had a direct impact on our employees. While we always tried to do that with utmost care for the affected people (as well as the people staying) we fully realize these decisions are hard to get by. We have tried to be very transparent about the reasons for downsizing our teams and are very much focused on improving the positive environment and focus on the well-being and general morale of our employees. Thank you again for sharing, People team

Pros

It used to be a very energetic business with a positive mindset from everyone.

Cons

Disheartening experience. From the lack of company culture to the absence of a clear mission, it is evident that this organization is plagued by severe management issues. Trust in the management team, including the founders, is practically non-existent, as their actions consistently demonstrate a lack of transparency and accountability. One of the most troubling aspects is the company's attempt to conceal the true extent of employee layoffs that have occurred over the past year. This lack of transparency breeds an atmosphere of uncertainty and distrust among the remaining staff. The HR team, unfortunately, proves to be utterly useless in addressing employee concerns or providing any meaningful support. This myopic approach is detrimental not only to the company's overall performance but also to the satisfaction of fashion brands that work with them. These brands consistently express disappointment due to the company's underwhelming performance and lack of strategic direction. The lack of a thriving company culture, vague mission, untrustworthy management, and a vague approach to layoffs, contributed to an extremely negative work environment.
