      Exceptional

      Pros

Leadership at all levels is approachable. Staff are just as important as patients. Excellent benefits and generous perks, including a robust tuition program. They support and do what they can to grow their own people. Many awards for excellence in patient care/specialties. Free parking! Generous commute options. If you are looking for a place to call home and really enjoy coming to work every day, this is it. Colleagues are kind, supportive and skilled. Staff at all levels are respected by leadership.

      Cons

Just one, their PTO program combines vacation, sick and holidays. To be more competitive, it would be better to separate these out.

      Pros

Wonderful people to work with. Some of the kindest and helpful people work here. Almost everyone steps up and goes above and beyond to make patient care excellent. Everyone brings great ideas to the table to improve the work environment. Because the organization is so lean, you are able to directly impact the organization, work with top leadership, and change healthcare

      Cons

Again- the organization is so lean; many people wear several hats. Overlake has cut off its nose to spite its face. No new innovations occurring. Without investment, nothing amazing can happen. Excellence in individual employees is not recognized. There is little opportunity for promotion, especially in business/it/non-clinical areas. Technology is bare bones. Despite being in a tech-haven, Overlake is behind the times (probably due to lack of investment).

Happily employed at Overlake Medical Center

      Pros

I have found Overlake Medical Center to be great place to work. The organization has a strong mission to "provide medical excellence everyday" along with an established vision, defined values and a "results orientated" culture. Compensation is fair and they offer an excellent benefits package including employer matching retirement funds and a generous paid time off program. The organization will listen to ideas and is not top heavy; you can talk to anyone from the CEO down. Management does not micro-manage and once you prove yourself, you are given lots of autonomy to complete tasks, etc. Great place for career minded employees with plenty of upward mobility. Healthy bottom line that allows the organization to focus on patient care and not finances.

      Cons

      Sometimes we run too lean.

Great core staff, management heavy, Fiscally stretched to thin for current and future growth at workers expense

      Pros

Core staff and practitioners are amazing to work with especially with upper management fiscal and practice constraints. The motto is usually "do more with less." the staff provides exceptional best practice care.

      Cons

Constant budget cuts, usually understaffed for best patient care. Top heavy management puts constant pressure on unit managers. High daily turn over for ICU and delayed transfers to the floor. Poor nurse staffing ratios for ICU nurses with frequent telemetry assignments with little tech support. Epic system is a lot of duplicate charting and too many pages. Lastly, poor long-term employee recognition and no formal exit process-last day I handed my badge to the security guard as I left the building.

      A great place to work!

      Pros

Working at Overlake feels like you are part of a family. We are all here with the same mission of taking care of every patient, one patient at a time even for those us in non-patient care roles. I have been at Overlake for 13 years and had the opportunities to work in different departments in different positions.

      Cons

Overlake runs very lean. Overlake is successful financially because of this but it means a lot of hard work.

      Pros

Excellent healthcare services with great career opportunities. The Grade A on Leapfrog, five star rating on health grades and Gold plus elite in stroke care make us a step above all other healthcare facilities on the east side. Very proud to be apart of the progressive care team on South 4 that provides excellent patient care in a teamwork atmosphere that makes being a team member phenomenal!

      Cons

Traffic on 405 can be challenging, but worth the drive to be on an outstanding team with vision and proven track record.

Worked for many organizations; Overlake is by far the best!

      Pros

The organization takes care of their employees Benifits are above average. Paid time off is excellent. Very good onboarding. Very good leadership at the executive level; have the organization heading in the right direction to continue growth. Financially doing well and have remained so during challanging times. And should probably mention the excellent location.

      Cons

Not a lot that Overlake is not doing right. Maybe more attention to support functions. But that is part of working at a hospital; focus is on patient care (which they do very well).

      Pros

The culture at Overlake is caring, compassionate, welcoming and warm. Overlake is very community focused and supported. Overklake is always striving for new ways to improve upon what is already the most EXCELLENT of patient care! Overlake has great benefits and is very fair with compensation policies. Overlake is very stable and finacially sound which has been very comforting in these tough econmical times.

      Cons

As a not for profit, non taxed supported hospital, Overlake has to work very lean.
