      Pros

Lot of hard working non-management people who genuinely care about doing a good job

      Cons

Senior Management - they see you as a number not a person wanting to develop skills.

It was a 60:40 experience. With 60 at bad sides and 40 at good sides.

      Pros

Brand Value to the outside CRO world. Not many describe.

      Cons

Lot of promises will be made during interview specially for a new location. Finally, nothing will be applicable. Entire management team will say that's company policy which will change from time to time. Recruiter will not be aware of the changes in the company. Open statement conveyed by senior management will change as per company's requirement. Complete challenge on your work life balance. Over all not a professional place to work. GCP PRINCIPLE- BENEFIT OUT WEIGHS RISK.

Current Employee, more than 10 years

      Pros

Many great people across the globe who are still motivated and are working hard to maintain a level of client trust and satisfaction. Lots of benefits, modern workplace.

      Cons

Hard working employees have made this company great and successful. There have been many wrong decisions in the past (not investing in Technology and Systems, not developing staff and missing opportunities for them to take more ownership, questionable promotions, missing trust &respect, vague strategy and non-existent tactical plans, incompetent Leadership and Senior Management in Business Units and Departments). The only solution for the company was indeed to go private, and start reducing the workforce. A new Leadership Team had to be brought on board, but instead of wisely weeding out toxic senior management positions the focus was on the company image to the public and the client base. The fundamental problems as well as their root causes have not been addressed nor tackled. A fancy and fresh new corporate design does not change what is going on inside the company for decades. It is striking that over the past 3 years new management staff joined the company which does not identify with the history of the organization, does not live and encourage cultural values the employees deserve. There have been times where we understood ourselves as WE, since all are in the same boat. Unfortunately, senior management is only focused on their own benefit and the ‘what's in it for WE’ turned into ‘what's in it for ME’. Management with bad and childish behavior, with low moral values, disrespect towards their staff, and the workforce optimization turned a once enjoyable place into a toxic workplace with high levels of frustration.

Trying to be positive, I took away some interesting experience that I hope to use elsewhere.

      Pros

-A paycheck -Some experience working in a CRO. This would be helpful as a place to start working, but take your experience elsewhere.

      Cons

-If you are not a political animal, you will not survive here. You will not get promotions, praise for a job well done, or any recognition and you will get 'passed over' etc. -Training is practically non-existent. You basically get thrown 'into the deep end' and teach yourself the various systems or procedures. All this while trying to do your job. -LEAP initiative was a total disaster. This was not well-thought out, planned or executed by senior management. -No real or attainable goals are set for employees. Managers keep demanding more, but give you no guidelines or ways to achieve any goals. -Management keeps changing procedures, so it can get extremely confusing and frustrating trying to keep up with the changes. -No real balance between work and home. I received many e-mails from people working into the wee hours of the morning. -Deadlines for some of the RFPs are ridiculous at best. This makes for long hours and a lot of tension. -Trying to get resources lined up for a clinical trial is a joke. -Temps or Contractors are treated as though they are a lower life form.

A great place to work and make a difference

      10 Nov 2010 -  in Lowell, MA

      Pros

The people at PAREXEL are very straight-forward and great co-workers. The company has grown a tremendous amount over the past few years - but infrastructure has not kept pace. This provides an opportunity for people willing to apply themselves to improve operations and get noticed. More than 25% of jobs are filled internally.

      Cons

The work pace is fast and the hours can be long - especially if you are in a global position. Senior Management could communicate better with their employees in the business unit.
