I worked at Pasco Scientific full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The basic mission, to improve science education is a great one. Somewhat flexible daily schedule with short Fridays. Decent (but not great) pay. Some very good people work here, though not at the management/VP level.

    Cons

Terrible leadership. They fired a CEO soon after I was hired and then hired and fired his replacement within a year. The third and current CEO "leads" from a place of insecurity. Doesn't want feedback just obedience, is more interested in loyalty than competence, etc. Morale went from bad to worse just in the few years I was there. No real KPIs, few opportunitoes for skill/job growth, and a very makeshift yearly review process which doesn't matter as there are almost no opportunities to advance. Lots of long term employees in positions of power but who don't actually know how to manage people or run a business. An ingrained company culture that isn't capable of adapting which leads to lots of politics and infighting.

I worked at Pasco Scientific full-time

    Pros

Alternate work schedule, work 8.5 hours Mon - Thurs and 6 hours on Fri. 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life insurance. Many long-term employees, that says a lot about a company!

    Cons

Yearly reviews were consistently late. Managment seemed to get their reviews even though they, themselves have several outstanding reviews to do. Executive staff heavy. Claim to listen to ideas from lower level employees, however, ideas seem to be ignored or they really are not interested in listening. Give employees who are excelling a chance for advancement or at least an option to get more perks. More of a pay raise than the standard 3%, or gift cards, or some sort of “atta-boys”. Employees love to feel as though they are appreciated.

I have been working at Pasco Scientific full-time

    Pros

Great mission -- if they can keep it in focus

    Cons

Board has made three poor choices for President in a row. New President is not an inspiring progressive leader. Uses old school: "I know best; do as I say" approach.

I worked at Pasco Scientific full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You know you are doing good work for schools and education. Plus good benefits, hours, fun employer sponsored events.

    Cons

Most people have been there a long time, and some get away with very poor social skills that border on harassment due to being friends with management. Also experienced a small team with years of animosity that made being a new employee extremely difficult and management did not make any attempt to correct bad behavior from employees.
