The Best Part Of First Job Immediately After Your Graduation Will be Your Innocent Ignorance of the Fact that Your Seemingly Simple Ideas Have the Power to Change the Company's Future. I Have Been Blessed to have had Opportunity to Embrace that Feeling by Having the Best Of Opportunities a Person Can Get to Explore the World Of Engineering and a Corporate Atmosphere by Working With the Most Of the Disciplines here at Petrofac. Experience is the Best Thing Ever that Can Happen to Person. You have to Win Only Once in the Whole Life. Growth Stops the Moment you have the Feel Of Winning and It's a Short term Feeling. But Playing the Game is more Important, the Whole Experience is Really Important. This is Where I Was Taught Real Definition Of Engineering and What it Takes to be a Real Engineer in Life. So the Definition that I Learnt here is that Engineering is Utilizing Knowledge and Principles to Design, Build, Analyze, Question the Basics, Not Assuming, Learning and Solving Problems and Real Engineers don't Adjust Instead they Learn, Analyze, Solve Problems and Grow up. This is the Place that Encouraged me to Always Feel Intrigued and Learn Something New Everyday. The One that I Value the Most Above Everything is that this Place Laid a Foundation to Develop One Of My Most Favorite Skillset in a Person. It's this Situation Awareness. This is the One Skillset Which I Always Wanted to Develop From My Quality Of being a Resourceful Person.

Good company to rise professionally if one can completely compromise on the work-life balance

      Pros

      1. Good and very cordial colleagues and seniors. 2. Roles offered are quite challenging due to fast track project executions. Professional growth is better than other organisations. 3. There's no hierarchy for discussing issues, which helps in good recognition within and outside the project team. 4. It's relatively easier to get short term / medium term overseas visits at Sharjah office and vendor's location for those working at VECs. Long term opportunities at project sites are also possible within a few years.

      Cons

      1. Negligible to nil work-life balance due to long working hours since more responsibilities are handled by small team on most of the projects and due to fast paced project execution. 2. The compensation offered few years back was close to the industry standards, however it has deteriorated considerably. In 2019, the appraisals offered were much higher than the the previous years to match the industry standards but the very high disparity in compensation between the employees with equivalent experience still remains. Hence, it is always better to negotiate the compensation during the joining. If not, it will never be brought at par with the others irrespective of the number of years worked in this organisation unless this compensation bias is highlighted regularly and strongly during each appraisal cycle. 3. Prime focus is always on the schedules than on the quality of work. Quality of work is questioned only when issues are raised; and most often the reason for shoddy quality of work is the fast paced project execution leaving little time to breathe or think. 4. Management is completely against the philosophy of working in silos, which in my opinion is really good. However, to uphold this philosophy, all the communication gates are open without any hierarchy. This results in almost everyone: the leads, procurement team, project engineer, project manager, delivery engineer, delivery manager and occasionally HOD discussing and following up with the working level engineer focussing only on the work status and schedules instead of quality of work. This has consequently increased the time spent on numerous discussions, resulting in considerably long working hours. 5. The work exposure, professional growth, guidance and compensation benefits are greatly biased towards those who have joined as GETs (Graduate Engineering Trainees).
