    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at Pioneer Natural Resources full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Decent Compensation and Benefits overall

    Cons

In well engineering, positions are so spread out that operations engineers are basically phone call secretaries. Middle management is completely CLUELESS how to manage field employees from the office and barely competent at all sans relying on field superintendents. Being a single basin company is just not going to last - nearly no actual engineering goes into wells anymore. Pioneer hired so many field engineers that even those with 5 years of experience are working as wellsite foremen and have no ability to advance their careers at all. Attrition is growing steadily and the company laid off the technical staff that made it good in the first place.
