I have been working at Pioneer Natural Resources part-time

    Pros

Free lunch, caring CEO, kind people, lots of diversity

    Cons

There's been a shift in the average age of employees and while the company is trying to move forward and modernize, a lot of the older employees are fighting progress. For me, there is not a whole lot of room for growth. However I'm a special case.

    Pros

Great people Free lunch Great benefits Operations group are some of the best in the industry Corporate office has two pretty decent gyms

    Cons

Management outside of operations is clueless. Lots of managers biding their time until retirement. Don't expect to change anything. Culture in the corporate office is based on backstabbing and hidden motives. Senior management is clueless to the real problems, as middle management sugar coats problem areas.

I worked at Pioneer Natural Resources for more than a year

    Pros

Pioneer treats their employees wonderfully. You are expected to work hard and diligently, but they provide free lunches, an on-site gym, half day Fridays, etc. There are courses to help employees boost and sharpen their skill sets. The company communicates clearly with its employees through a series of Town Hall meetings. Tremendous benefits. Also, I've never worked at a company that cares for its employees on such a...

I have been working at Pioneer Natural Resources full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Voted best company to work for in DFW, free lunch, free gym, 2 for 1 401K match, great health benefits, and a smart set of senior execs who spend within cash flow and have built a strong company that can weather ups and downs in the market.

    Cons

The company is going through a few growing pains, ERP programs, and other headaches during the downturn to be ready to come out of the gate running when prices turnaround. No matter how good the company is, we're still tied to commodity prices.

    Advice to Management

Junior leader development would help avoid potential pitfalls during our growth and reorganization.

Some days there wasn't a lot of work to do around the office, which lead to a very long and boring work day.

I worked at Pioneer Natural Resources full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people, excellent work-life balance, extremely competitive benefits, great environment, free lunch, flexible work week, down to earth people.

    Cons

Corporate politics can influence project decisions over practical common sense. All ideas matter.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to urgently develop and retain its ever dwindling numbers of highly productive /talented employees and not just focus on fast track career progression programs for engineers exclusively. It takes more than engineers to keep a company working efficiently and progressively moving forward. Identify, engage, and develop a program for highly productive employees else they leave outright.
