I worked at Postmates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1. you will enjoy working with your teammates even amidst the chaos 2. lots of events and informal get-togethers to get to know other people in your team/ other teams 3. catering is pretty good (Mondays/Tuesdays) 4. benefits are pretty good. 5. There are some really good people making sure Postmates has a positive social impact - from volunteering to donating leftover food to those who need it (Foodfight). 6. Friendly dogs in the office

    Cons

    1. People are leaving and will continue to leave. This affects team morale and hampers productivity - knowledge transfers are harder (especially when your teammate left/ is laid off and there is little documentation). When your teammates have been let go and there is no transparency from the management as to why that happened, it reduces the motivation to give all your energy to this company. Especially since it requires a lot from you. 2. Onboarding for newer folks becomes harder. 3. Constant change in managers -I have known people who have had at least 4 managers in a span of a year here. I have also known people who have managers who do not know what they are doing and have not met with them for months. This is not good for your growth especially since during performance reviews (which only happens once a year), your manager will not be able to speak of what you had done in the past. Your pay raise depends on your performance review from your manager. When you join, keep in mind that there is a good chance that a. that manager will be a ghost or b. your manager will be moved or let go. When you interview, I suggest you really clarify who is going to be your manager and get to know that person before you sign that contract. 4. Constant re-orgs. Every quarter, leaders are often either replaced or moved or the team is re-built. This is not necessarily a negative because you get to meet new people but it again hampers productivity. 5. Outages happen often. People are often upset. You may even hear some yelling. 6. On-call hours are awful. Unlimited PTO was established (this is actually bad for you, the company is doing it to save money, and there are studies that show people are less likely to take their days off. 7. There is this general sense of panic from everyone due to the huge backlog, people leaving, outages, and expectation to get everything done right at this moment. You will never feel like you have done enough. You will be on adrenaline on most days, which can be fun for awhile, but this is hard to sustain long-term.

I have been working at Postmates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This is a great place for self-driven people who like to push themselves independently and creatively to get the job done. There are so many tools and resources available just waiting to be put to use. There is plenty of room to grow and people who seek out learning experiences or development opportunities will find them. There is still a startup mentality so your focus/goals need to be flexible and may change a few times, but if you like to be challenged within a respectful environment you would be happy here. The benefits are great, office is cool, events are fun, and I feel very comfortable bringing my whole self to work.

    Cons

People who depend on super involved leadership probably won't do as well here. There is a lot of independence (which is a definite pro in my opinion) so if you need hand-holding or consistent pats on the back you most likely won't get it here. That being said, when praise comes it feels authentic and well-deserved. There is a lot of work to be done on fully maturing the company, but at the same time it feels exciting to be involved in pushing Postmates to the next level.

I worked at Postmates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lunch 3x times a week. Work life balance was great. No guidelines on expenses (literally at all - wonder why they are burning through money?).

    Cons

Where do I start? Avoid this place at all costs. This industry is so competitive, and due to the lack of foresight from leadership to expand to suburbs instead of focusing on LA, we are 4th out of the top 3PD companies out there. You can really feel that. We are 4th best at everything, we don't deserve #1. Merchants sign with Postmates because, why not? They're already partnered with everyone else. We have no value prop, we are bending over backwards for LA merchants that make us no money just to look cool. It's a sinking ship. They are desperate for someone to buy them (no one is biting), but they 100% won't go public.

I have been working at Postmates full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

-A lot of people want to do the right thing -Nice office, flexible work from home policies

    Cons

-Things are wild sometimes, but there are a lot of new people joining the company that have good experience and are trying to line things up more. If you plan your work out and are organized, you have all the guidance you need but if you need a lot of direction you may struggle.

I worked at Postmates full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - great place to learn different technologies, as there are a lot being used - some strong engineers to learn from, especially on the infra side - now has decent benefits including good parental leave (though only provides lunch 3 days a week)

    Cons

    - questionable leadership at every level - giant monolith with lots of tech debt, with a switch to micro services where some are unnecessary and only add to the complexity - when things go badly and there are outages, leadership will show their emotional immaturity by having outbursts and lack of trust and patience - a lot of fear of failure, which prevents big changes and stifles innovation - talks outwardly about how helping drivers make money is a top priority, but almost always prioritizes work that would improve company metrics over quality of life features for drivers, or even basic things such as making sure they are paid in a timely manner - poor engineering management - lacks ability to keep top talent
