Pros
Very low expectations of developers. You can basically do minimal work and still get promoted/raises. Good Work/Life Balance
Cons
Putting in effort is not rewarded. People are promoted to your tier even if they really have no idea how things work. Compensation, raises, bonuses, etc could be better. Choices of tech and other goals based on upper management bonuses and not on what the right move for the company is. There is no real career path for someone who wants to grow as an engineer. You will be the one teaching them about engineering. Fear of using new tech because of a breach years ago with people who are no longer at the company. Not talking about bleeding edge, but even tech that is a few years old is just going through long processes to even get approved for development to find out you don't need it.

Pros
Work/life balance, flexibility and coworkers.
Cons
Upper management does not have a plan for long-term success. Technologies are outdated and under funded.
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Nice people and working atmosphere. Everyone in IT wants to do good work and help the business in any way possible.
Cons
There is a serious lack of focus on technology modernization. There are applications that are 20 or 30 years out of date with no effort to update them. Some fresh upper management might be changing that, but I'm doubtful.

Good benefits and flexible wfh
Cons
Upper management is clueless. They don't listen to to their managers. They think constant re-orgs and team changes will fix their issues. The problem is them.

Pros
- Team dynamics may vary— but, I was fortunate to work with a lot of talented and kind people on my side of campus! - My manager was the best one that I’ve had. Easy to talk to whenever you needed any sort of guidance or support for your work. - Everyone is supportive. - Beautiful campus. - Cafeteria meals are great. You just have to pay for it yourself. Including the Starbucks coffee.
Cons
Challenges vary from department to department... As much as Premera is trying to catch up with the times, there are moments you’ll see just how dated their operations are in some areas. For example, many people and myself found it really hard to voice our opinions to upper management. There’s a lot of corporate culture nonsense to work through just so that your feedback can get to the right manager/director/president. And you’re likely not going to be able to provide that feedback yourself. Another important point to mention is the way the company adapted to COVID-19. It showed a lot about how much they cared about employees. During the first 2 months of the pandemic, many of us were at home without proper equipment besides our laptops. No assistance to access proper chairs, desks, supplies from our desks was provided. We were told that we had to just use what we had at home until they figure things out. They later offered credits to give employees access to food delivery, but that was poorly marketed around the company and barely any of us knew that we had that perk.
