Seriously degrading work environment and misguided management.

Dec 2, 2017 - Sales in New Bedford, MA

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Smart and talented individuals in most departments. Products offered are great for most part but losing competitive edge quickly. Design opportunity exists but lack of appropriate investment to make those groups stellar is evident.

      Cons

Terrible Senior management guidance, lack of caring for employee experience and continuity, Corporate run like mom & pop company circa 1980s, oblivious to rampant department spend and inconsistent systems and infrastructure. Multiple changes in Senior Management (i.e. Multiple CEOs, CFO, CIO, etc.) drastically affecting employee morale and direction. January and December RIFs too severe and altering culture significantly. Telerik entity still not contributing enough to offset their significant drain of spend and resource demand. Other recent entities also have lackluster performance.

      Clueless management

      Aug 2, 2017 - Product Manager

      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

There's a good work-life balance at times and occasionally you can be lucky to work with some smart people. Kindergarten on site.

      Cons

Senior management is clueless due to lack of experience and knowledge. High egos. All that results in constantly changing strategy leading to nowhere. Recognizes most vocal rather than smartest.

      Human Capital

Earlier this year, we did announce a new strategy regarding the direction of our business. This strategy resulted from an in-depth and intense examination of our products, the growth potential in the market, as well as from conversations with key customers and partners. We intend this to be a long-term plan for success. Because we focus on providing our employees with successful career development paths, we strive to promote qualified employees when opportunities arise. When these promotions occur, we provide ongoing management training and have recently implemented specialized learning and development courses. These are targeted to increase manager leadership skills and performance. We encourage you to reach out to your manager or Human Capital business partner at any time to discuss any particular issues so that they may be further addressed. Thank you for your review.

A good company that continues to struggled to find its way

      Pros

Great people, close-knit culture, customer-focused, a great community with some smart, solid products.

      Cons

Multiple changes in strategy leading to one dead-end after another. Senior management is disconnected from the rest of company. A new cohort comes in, completely changes direction, fails to produce results within 2 years, then they're replaced.

      Pros

OpenEdge is the "bread and butter" product for Progress. Staff working on it is very senior and the product quality and service is remarquable. Other newly acquired products can definitely help the eco-system

      Cons

Senior management not having a clear vision and goals.

      Pros

Reasonable salary and nice people. The Bracknell office was a pleasant environment.

      Cons

During my time the strategy and senior management changed multiple times. I left because the company was flatlining - no real excitement - good company if you want to hide and have an easy life.
