      Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Public Company Accounting Oversight Board full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Generally a low-stress job where people don't work that hard

      Cons

The review processes (incorporating feedback from multiple divisions) can be slow. On the technical side, sometimes it feels like we are 10-15 years behind where we should be.

I have been working at Public Company Accounting Oversight Board full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Good PTO policy....6 weeks. Good 401K match Work from home 2 days a week, after being with the organization for 2 months.

      Cons

Difficult to get promoted. Limited opportunities. Not really clear what you have to do to get promoted. Very top heavy, because individuals have been around for years and refuse to leave/retire to open up opportunities. Lots of travel with lots of last minute changes in schedule. Seems like certain people always get the good locations to travel to especially for the International inspections even if they don't have...

      Advice to Management

Listen to your people. If someone is really unhappy to be in a group, don't force them to stay in that group, especially if they do not have any specific skills that the group requires.

I have been working at Public Company Accounting Oversight Board full-time

      Pros

The organization has a strong sense of mission, is fairly good about work-life balance, and there is more opportunity for advancement than in the past. New leadership has some good strategic ideas, though execution has been rocky so far, as noted below.

      Cons

The organization is going through a restructuring right now, which seems to be more chaotic and unfocused than it needs to be. I give the PCAOB a 3 right now just because I believe strongly in its mission, and perhaps once the transformation takes hold, clumsy though its execution has been so far, something higher than a 3 will be merited. But looking just at a snapshot of the organization as it exists today, 3 is really...

      Advice to Management

Communication with the staff has deteriorated sharply. This seems like it would be an obvious and easy fix, but it doesn't seem to be in the nature of this board to want to explain itself clearly, much to its own detriment. Pros

The benefits are top notch. You get a lot of freedom to complete projects.

      Cons

Sometimes the projects you work on don't come to fruition so that can be a little frustrating. There is also a lot of red tape, it can take a lot of time to get anything done.

      Advice to Management

      Streamline processes.
