Pure Storage Employee Reviews about "work life balance"

Pros

Company has endless upside when it comes to growth. They're taking over their space by storm and I think their positive earnings quarter after quarter and their rising stock vouch for that. The CEO seems genuine, however, I never actually met him but definitely seems passionate about Pure's success which also translates into care for employee well being. Benefits were great, and they started introducing Pure Play Days which were extra company holidays but I'm not sure if those will stick around forever.

Cons

I really loved my first 14-months at Pure but there was a lot of management changes within the CFO org, from top to bottom, which quickly changed my overall experience. Employee satisfaction took a back seat and maximizing employee usage/efficiency until they wring you dry became the new theme so expect to work more than is required and don't expect a solid work-life balance if you work within the CFO org. Also, the random company surveys they send out aren't exactly anonymous like they say since the responses are shared with management and if you work in a small team it can be pretty easy to identity who said what on their surveys.

Pros

- Great, smart, and personable coworkers. - Opportunities to make a difference. - Compensation was competitive for company size. - Office/employee perks (catered lunch 3x/week, dinner IF you work until 7pm, snacks and drinks) but I hear that a lot of this will be going away

- Lots of weak/poor people managers (although there's definitely some good ones). - Disorganized and lack of processes/communication that leads to wasted effort (felt like company didn't believe in "work smarter, not harder"). - Work/life balance is challenging. - Lack of clear direction (which leads to next point...). - Short term focused (focus was on current quarter and not necessarily on the long-term bigger picture).

- Storage industry is becoming ever more commoditized, constantly turning into pricing wars and a race to the bottom - Competition has all copied Evergreen, customer in realitity love the sounds of Evergreen but at the end of the day rarely plan to worry about their refresh in 6 yrs, 9yrs, ect... -Senior management is holding Covid sales numbers against us when the storage industry significantly decreased YoY especially in the commercial segment.

Great company to work for, especially for woman in a tech industry, great benefits, good compensations, very talented and good people, good work life balance. You really will be able to make a difference and grow with company. Management is very understandable and very supportive.

Being a public company with share holders, you are expected to work harder than the year before. This comes with the territory working for an OEM.

- Most of the team management does not understand process and burden of creating efficiency is left on the team without much support. - One or two groups makes operations team a clique with drastic consequences if challenged. - Growth is dependent on being in good books vs performance.

No work life balance, severely understaffed at all positions. Inexperienced mid-level managers Benefits outside of US are barely meeting the minimum expected (everything is salary) Painful transition from startup company to established firm. Losing the culture and people.
